Nah, Arky (even with Cal) is way down the list of teams I root against, and since Duke is probably #1, yes, even ahead of UofL, I’m going with Arky by 8!

No way I can root for Duke....unless it somehow without a doubt benefits UK. This isn't one of them.

Calipari actually has a team that could give Duke issues from a matchup level. I think Arkansas goes farther than UK this year in the NCAA tournament. They have better pieces.

My dislike of Duke runs far deeper than Cal.

BUT I want Cal to lose. So as usual.

Gimme Power Outage.

I only root for Duke if they play Louisville, usually. Im not sure who I’m going to cheer for at this point to be honest.
Ewwww. Even then I can’t do it.

I don’t hate UofL over any blue blood rival. It’s one of the rare times I soft pull for UofL.

I get it. Think it’s all based on location and age. I live just outside of Louisville and was born in December of 92. It’s tough dealing with these mouth breathers year round. Even after beating them 75 percent of the time.

I love that one of them has to lose. But right now I want to secure the Calipari legacy here for the future, therefore we can’t have him winning at Arkansas. I want him to fail miserably and crawl back here later begging to have a seat at the table and be remembered as a UK guy only. He’s already ruined the legacy play for both UK and himself, we don’t need that to worsen by him winning at Arkansas. There’s no UK fan who should right now be rooting for him to do well, it’s not good for our relationship with him, it’s not good for Mark, it’s not good for the decision we made to move on, it’s not good for the legacy of Calipari and UK.

Stop rooting for him to do well there. Go Duke.

thank you. I’ll never understand why anyone would root for unc or Duke Kansas over UL. UL is not significant, they are. UL is not a threat to our throne, they are.

UL is just another team in the state that’s below Kentucky. Most of the country doesn’t even think about nor care about UL.

I think some people have to deal with their fans and live close, so they believe it’s a bigger deal than it really is nationally. And I get that, it’s gotta be annoying.

I want every other SEC team to lose every game. With a few exceptions. If one is playing UL for instance. Same for one playing Duke or UNC. So, go pigs!!

While I agree they are more nationally irrelevant than the blue bloods, our rivalry with them is still bigger than any other basketball program. If you ask just about anyone who Kentuckys biggest rival is, most of them are going to say Louisville. It’s consistently one of the biggest rivalry games played every year.

Duke for example, we have played them 8 times since I’ve been born. And I’m 32. To me it’s hard to comprehend how or why UK fans claim they are a bigger rival when we barely see them. The only conclusion I can come to is the shot in 92. Which happened 8 months before I was born.

We beat dUKe in the FF in 1966 to advance to play Texas Western. We beat dUKe in the '78 title game. dUKe has been a national power for decades and decades. UL is just city commuter school. We wouldn't even play them if they were not located in Ky. dUKe was hated long before the '92 game. Oh, we beat in the '98 E8 game too. The media was devastated over that one.

Well yea, the location is the main reason for our rivalry being what it is. That's why Duke and UNC is so great. It started because of location just like U of L and UK.

Dont get it misconstrued, I will root for just about anyone over Duke. But Louisville isn't one of them. We play Louisville at least once a year. None of the other bluebloods would consider UK their biggest rival like some of our fans do with Duke. Just kinda seems like we focus on them a little too much for how little we see them. Just my opinion.

U of L is not in UK's category as far as all time program status, but they are still a top ten program all time.

I think the reason people would say that it media driven. I grew up as big of a UK fan that exists. My father raised me die hard so I knew UK history as a kid as well as anyone. I never considered Louisville much. Nobody I know outside of Kentucky even considers Louisville. they really are insignificant nation wide. Probably due to Kentucky, and they’ve been mid major most of their existence. Actually, they were more thought of by Memphis fans than anyone else.

Duke UNC Kansas / Tennessee. these are the rivals to me. We’re competing at the highest level, Duke steadily gaining on our position at the top. Much bigger story much bigger deal. Even living in Lexington, I still don’t hear or see much about Louisville. I go to church in Louisville and I’m there pretty often, I see as much Kentucky there are anything really. I’m just amazed at how insignificant they are. Take Memphis for example, you don’t see Tennessee stuff in Memphis. Kentucky really does swallow them in national perception. It’s worse than people realize.

To me, Tennessee is far bigger of a real rival than UL. Honestly, I think we should be rotating UL, Western, Eastern etc. we platformed them and shouldn’t have.

Tennessee is the other school I would consider our biggest rival. Wanting to preserve all time status and actually having a rivalry are two different things. And for the record I’m all for both arguments. I don’t want the blue bloods to even win games but I’ll always root for them over Louisville or Tennessee. I know this is a very subjective topic for most fans, but I have a hard time hating schools we hardly play more than schools we see once or twice a year at the least.

I"m glad we have a lot of fans come to their senses that rooting against our former coach makes little sense compared to rooting against an actual rival, who, might be the odds on favorite to win the title.
