Moreno and Johnson were better than I thought they would be early.

Hard to tell anything from games like this.

Lowe made some nice reads.

Chandler was rushing his shot. I think he will be fine.

I expected far more from Williams.

First look was just that. The defense didn’t look like the matador defense of last year.

So who do you think starts against Purdue? I was unable to watch the scrimmage, does anyone think tonight’s showing, other than Lowe’s injury would have made a difference in your starting lineup?

I think Pope will start Lowe, Otega, Mo and Garrison. I don’t have a clue on who the 5th starter will be but I really liked Jaspers game.
My starting 5 would be Lowe, Jasper, Oweh, Mo, and Moreno.

Lowe, Moreno and Johnson. Throw a little of Noah in there, and then the Croatian.

I wasn't worked up about Oweh but he's been out with a turf toe. I am a little concerned he tries to do too much given he came back and he's supposedly our "leader" (frankly, Lowe will become the leader IMO). Garrison still showed "meh" and I don't think he'll overcome stupid mistakes related to his attitude.

I wouldn’t take to much from tonight but if I had to comment, Jasper suprised me quite a bit. I thought he would be a little greener sort of speak but he seemed comfortable out there. I expected to see more from Kam. Garrison still thinks to much. It’s the first scrimmage we got plenty of time. Lowe got hurt, Owen is coming back, JQ is out. Even as good as they looked tonight 3 of the starters didn’t play full strength the whole night and Kentucky still won the game.

Hawthorne played well. He actually might help us this year. Moreno is going to fight for starters minutes THIS year. Johnson is smooth. Lowe if healthy is a difference maker maybe THE diffetence maker.Jelavic will be a beast by end of season. Aberdeen best defensive player tonight. On flip side, Chandler struggled, Oweh looks rusty.. Garrison is about the same, at least tonight. Williams a no show.tonight.
Final thoughts. UK is deep but must have Lowe, just must, they aren't top 5 ( which they are with him) without him.

what the hell was you watching? other than Moreno rebounding nobody stood out
What are you drinking? If you couldn't see the talent of Mo, Aberdeen and Jasper on display tonight it must be blindness inducing moonshine. I suppose you think Lowe wasn't impressive as well. Don't know what to think of fans who expect the Showtime Lakers in a preseason scrimmage game.

If Aberdeen doesn’t start, why did he come here ?? Wasn’t he first guard off the bench for Nat Champ Florida ?? Having asked that … I don’t know if he starts, or not … ????

I actually thought BG played ok. I’d rather he think too much than go off half cocked. He made some nice passes and hands were active on defense. I thought Jelavic played some good D too. I felt like the most decisive and deliberate players were Jasper, Otega, Mo D, Aberdeen, and Lowe.

It’s hard to tell if our defense is just a lot better or the offense struggled. Both sides forced a lot offensively. Rebounding is still a concern and will be until JQ gets back. Potter is a nice practice player. Collin is still a little unsure of himself. Kam showed nothing and was lazy on D. He’ll need improved effort if he wants to see any clock.

Overall it was about what I expected. Purdue will tell us a lot more. I could see us winning a rock fight or a shootout. Could also see us losing by 15. I do not think we are a FF team unless JQ plays, BUT I will say that Moreno’s size and energy are very encouraging. By March he could be a load. He just has really good body language and I think he’s a sponge and very eager to learn and improve.

If Lowe goes down I thought Aberdeen would be the PG choice, but Jasper is a bit smoother, but JJ might be like letting dillingham run the point, no body else gets passes or shots.

Based on tonight I like:
Lowe
Jasper
Otega
Mo D
Moreno

Aberdeen
Noah
Chandler
Jelavic
Williams
Garrison
Hawthorne

In that order just based on that scrimmage.
Odd you have Oweh and Chandler ahead of Jelavic ??? He looked better than almost anyone, LAST NIGHT. Noah also has to be in the top 5 based on last night.
Lowe
Noah
Mo
Jelavic
Moreno

Thought the transfer from Miami Ohio, Reece Potter played better than Hawthorne. He scrapped and fought on the inside.

Was awful shooting the ball the first part of the season last year. Looks like a trend.

the only thing that stood out for Mo was the 2 foul shotts that he missed horribly

What stood out to me was how little Kam did.
Yea, fair post. I felt the same way but I’m telling self if anyone on the team may take a bit longer to develop, other than freshman, it’s probably Kam. He was a freshman just last season and is not really used to the level of competition he’s facing in practice the same way these other guys are. We are gonna need him for his defense and shooting this year, I’m confident he will find both.

No Jasper?
Yes, but not ahead of those 5 listed. Jasper had some shot selction issues and a little loose with the ball, but played well, you can see the talent obviously. Just needs to reel it in a bit, a little Rob Dillingham like last night. Good / bad.

Our biggest standout may be the #5 position as a whole. Garrison should be at least as good as last year, Moreno has impressed, Potter looked like he could play last night....and the biggest standout of all was sitting on the pine.
