Who fly's often, out of Newark? What the hell is going on overthere?

Very old airport. IMHO. I remember when PeoplExpress ran into Newark in the 80s, they used the original terminal which my dad recalled from the 40s.

I was surprised to see how relatively little traffic Newark handles. It's not in the top 20 of US airports. I guess it hasn't gotten the upgrades that busier airports get.

Friends of ours were flying out of Newark to go on a Mediterranean cruise and spent over 24 hrs at the airport getting hosed over by United. They finally got an SAS flight out and were able to meet the ship in a port. Crazy. There were on and off a plane on the runway about three times!

The terminals have been modernized. The infrastructure seems to be another story.
From what I am hearing from friends and local news, there is construction at Newark Airport which is making the situation worse

Burn Newark down the ground. The airport, the city, all of it.

(The above statements are in regards to the city in NEW. JERSEY. o_O . However, Newark, DE, and Newark, OH, need not be spared.)

One of the runways is closed (under reconstruction). Additionally, there have been technical and labor issues with the air traffic control system. From what I have been told radar approach for Newark is controlled by the unit in Philly. I don't think it is unusual for radar approach for several major airports being controlled by a regional unit. Unfortunately fir a few hours one day last week that radar unit had operational issues. Most of what is going on is out of control of the airlines.
New U.S. Transportation Secretary (Sean Duffy) is seeking budget funding for a total Air Traffic Control system rebuild.

Duffy is pushing to get it done in 3-4 years. But yes....needs the funding up front.

I'm praying for a miracle. I fly from EWR to SJU in June. I have a 14 yr old daughter with Autism and hanging around an airport terminal too long would not be good!
