YEARS ago (we're talking WAY before the earliest versions of these forums existed and the internet was still new/unknown by most folks, I read an article about a street performer in New Orleans named Perri the Hobo. There was a photo of him drinking at an outdoor bar and smoking a heater. That picture has been my avatar (whenever I have NEEDED an avatar, ever since. IIRC that was circa 1994.)

Before I retired, my employer made a big push to use Microsoft TEAMS and requested that each of us upload a photo to use in Teams. That's the one I uploaded. They weren't pleased with that (they wanted serious pictures/actual photos of each person)

I listened to their concerns, and reasons why it was important to them, to take "this seriously" and then I left the Clown as my avatar. They repeatedly deleted that photo and replaced it with a generic logo, but I modified the group policy so that each time I logged in, it uploaded the Clown picture again. LOL

Mine is me and Mrs Hoss at the 2009 Liberty Bowl in Memfuss. We had a nice 4 day stay there. Visited the Delta Blues museum in Clarksdale, and hit up a couple of the juke joints there, seeing Louisiana Red and Bilbo Walker perform. Hit the casinos in Tunica as well.

I like mine. It's a criminal named Houdini Watson impersonating Superman, from "Superman's Greatest Enemy", Superman's Pal, Jimmy Olsen 30 (1958).

Watson and his cronies end up kidnapping Clark Kent. And of course the story's over very soon after that.

What's your avatar's story?
He’s smoking! Dead giveaway! You can’t leap tall buildings with emphysema!

Mine's from a site I read that has lots of old timey illustrations. This one's a cat. I don't know if that's obvious or not.

I like the ones I remember and can assume the content when I see it. So fan of the clown for example.

I actually think I’ve had this one much longer than I’d realize. Like possibly a decade or so.

Jealous of seeing the Delta Blues museum. At the ripe age of 48 i'm getting my first Strat to try and learn to play blues guitar.
If you go, take a trip over the river to Helena, Arkansas. They have a cool downtown area and the King Biscuit Radio studio is there. I have a dobro, but can’t play it worth a damn. Also, if you go to Clarksdale, eat at Abe’ s BBQ down by the crossroads of highways 61 and 49.

That's a good avatar right there. Druther's is always a clever idea.

Mine represents 2 people very close to my name on here. Overall I’d say Darkseid has the best avatar of anyone.

I have Dick Proenneke as mine. I saw his One Man's Wilderness on KET years ago and was hooked on his story. At 51, he built a cabin at Twin Lakes in Alaska and lived there for close to 30 years. He left in '98. It's an amazing film and there's also a book. I highly recommend checking those out.
