We need additional shooter/scorer to pair with lowe and oweh

So who will be next one we should pursue?

It is also likely we grab that high school recruit from West Virginia, then push Kam to starting 3

Probably will get someone, which will make us even better. However, we already have a noticeably better roster (on paper) than this season, and we did much better than many of us thought with that. I think we will have a very good shot to contend for a title, and nobody should have a concern about Pope, IMO. My only concern is that we are not nearly as strong with NIL as I thought we should be.

We're plenty strong. We're just not going to cave to bidding wars with dead, desperate programs.

There was a graphic on biggest spenders in the portal, and UK was at around $7.6 million (estimated). That's just transfers. Doesn't include our incoming freshmen and the five returners.

Ian Jackson. He said last year that he came very close to signing with Kentucky. His recruitment that seemed headed for St. John's has gone very quiet. He's a guy worth the money Indiana spent to get Wilkerson. And unlike other contenders for him, the PT is wide open at Kentucky.

Based off the last 2 portal seasons.....it will be someone very good and it will be someone we aren't necessarily expecting. Like a foreigner, a last second portaler or someone who pulls out of the draft.
It better be. Because if not (unless it's Ian Jackson) this team is going to have serious shooting issues next season. Pope has to land an elite 2G or we are a fringe top 20 team.

Can’t discount another overseas addition either.

We have a starting spot available on a top 10 team with even higher upside and a budget of probably 1.5-2M for this player.

That will be very enticing to essentially all but the most elite transfers. We will get a very very good player would be my expectation.

Do not think there are many big fish remaining

Not taking a swipe at you OP, but was Wilkerson a big fish before we set our sights on him? I feel like UK fans fall in love with possibilities, create rosters in their heads, and over hype potential Cats. I think Wilkerson would have been solid in the Brea role, but there are other players out there who can do that too.

That's 10 people who expect to play. We talked them into either coming or staying. None of them expect to sit, all of them will or should be in the rotation. How do you play 11 guys? I don't think I've ever seen it.
To play devil's advocate; if you're a coach, you figure you need to win a game with one guy out hurt, one guy in foul trouble, and another guy playing at 75% healthy. IDK, just spit balling.

All still available and Kentucky has reportedly been in contact with a majority of these names

Pope - Let's get Ian Jackson and pay this man. We don't have time to play these NIL games. Yes we are Kentucky basketball but these era of kids are different.

I dont disagree with you

Just was a little upset when posting

We need another wing that can shoot and hopefully have some athleticism

If we couldn't afford Wilkerson we surely cant afford Jackson.

We need a shooter. As another poster said, it will have to be someone not yet in the portal. Jmo
