As I watch UF, it strikes me that it would be hard to say who is #2. Was LSU in October, but we know how that ended. Maybe MSU, or UT?

Ole Miss would have won the SEC West, instead of Alabama, if Arkansas hadn't beat them in OT with that crazy lateral play! Without the SEC Championship would Bama have even made the CFP?

Still, Ole Miss did manage to lose to Florida early in the season (when the Gators had a QB) plus they lost inexplicably to Memphis. I might go with LSU as 2nd best. Depends on how Ole Miss looks tonight...

Ole Miss beat Bama in one of the wildest games of the year. Over the course of the year, Bama was clearly better. Ole Miss did suffer some key losses.

Yes, as much as I can't stand them, I'm afraid UT is rising fast. They looked unbeatable today, although Northwestern was certainly overrated. I think UT wins the East next year. I hate it, but I don't see UGA or UF stopping them.

UF is clearly not the second best team in the conference. All those discussed above...LSU, MSU, Ole Miss, UT are better. And the way they came on in the second half of the season...perhaps even Arkansas.

Arkansas would have performed very well in the east this year.

The second best team in SEC is UT, hate to say but they were 2 OT's from beating OU and a game they should have won with big lead, they led Bama the last 5 minutes this year and lost less than TD, inexplicable loss to Fl. but UT was better and Ark game was the one game where they got beat, they were better than Ark.

Hate UT but if you look objectively and go by what Bama players said after game and last few weeks, most said UT was hardest game.
So could have won against playoff teams.
IMO

Today, it would be UT. That talent is getting older and starting to really show out. They will be in Atalanta next year. I hate it, but they are simply miles ahead of UK and have been for a long time.

UT can take the SEC and be in the FF. All bets off if they lose their QB.

The top 3 in the West are the best in the SEC. Florida has zero offense and no QB. UT will win the east next year and have a wouldn't surprise me if they made the playoffs.

All that I know is it's really gonna suck going to Knoxville next year. They are gonna whip us all up down that field.

After watching the Ole Miss game I think I would have to vote them 2nd best----and they did beat the best.

It doesn't look good for our trip to Knoxville next year, I just hope we show up and play to our ability------which we don't always do, and usually our talent level doesn't give us a chance to compete I know our talent level has improved a great deal under Stoops, but theirs has also under Jones-----and he started at a MUCH higher level.

And competing and trying their best is all I really ask from our players, and if they do that there is always a chance. I think TU will probably be full of themselves when they play us next year and football is a funny game.

DREW BARKER!!! No, wait, he's the backup...

PATRICK TOWLES!!! IT'S PATRICK TOWLES!!!

My vote goes to Ole Miss. Maybe Florida if their O, D and ST show up for the same game.

Ole Miss or Tennessee. Tennessee looks strong. They're no joke.

I agree with you, UF managed to beat UT somehow this year, they had double digit leads against OU and Arkansas and led Bama late in the 4th. I don't think Jones is a great coach, 3 of the losses could be blamed on him, but their talent level is very high right now. Play UT close and you can beat them, but let them get up 2 scores and it could get ugly. OM is very talented, Kelly has played much better than I thought he was capable and he has WR who win almost every jump ball. WIthout that crazy lateral play by Arkansas in OT, Ole Miss would have won the west and the SEC could very well have easily been out of the playoffs this year unless the voters put a team in that didn't win their division. A 2 loss Stanford who won their conference would have gotten in over a 2 loss Ole Miss I believe. OM wasn't better than Bama, but they won that day.

Florida is absolute trash. I hate Tennessee but they are definitely the best I the east. If Tennessee played Florida now, they would kill them.

Looks like Tennessee could be about to have a major change at the DC position. It's looking like the DC for Penn St Bob Shoop is "possibly" coming here. Rumors have been out about this for several days and today the mods at the Penn St rivals site has confirmed this rumor.

At full strength, Ole Miss was hands down the 2nd best team in the SEC and the only team to beat the National Champion Alabama Red Elephants
Agree after watching Miss yesterdy, but --I HATE saying this--I think UT is going to be a big boy player next year

I vote for Ole Miss. When they are on they are the 2nd best team. They beat Bama, so edge to Ole Miss over UT.
