Who remembers the MSU game in 2018?

Last night's collapse was almost a carbon copy of the NU-MSU game in 2018 at Allstate Arena. In that one, NU led the No. 1 Spartans 48-27 at the half after shooting the lights out. Then, the Spartans blitzed the Cats in the second, outscoring them 38-11 to win by 5. That was a 32-point swing, last night was 40, but NU actually scored fewer points in the half vs. MSU, as hard as it is to believe. I remember the Spartans had a 24-0 run in that one.

That Spartans wound up in the Final Four. I think Illinois could wind up in Indy this year, as well.

IL could go really deep in the tournament. Their role players are good enough as shooters and defenders to complement the studs.

IA and WI are, for me, at the same level in conference. IA cause the role players might be better shooters than IL, and Garza more of a problem than Ayo and Cockburn combined. Even if on the defensive end, IL is clearly better. WI because they are old men. I don't see them necessarily having the same deep run potential in the tournament, but in conference play ending with a record good enough for the title.

I'm not ready to add MI to that lot. I am in denial Dickerson will be as good as he has been. Very good chance I will change my mind cause the dude is mind boggingly good as a freshman. He plays like a 5th year senior. And Wagner at 6'9 makes their length quite a problem.

Oh, I remember that debacle at Allstate Arena, and I wish I didn't. At one point in the first half the Cats were up 31 - 6. Then at halftime Red Panda performed, and it was all downhill from there. I blame the Panda.

I was texting my friends at halftime last night saying that I wish I could enjoy games like this, but I will never forget MSU at Allstate...felt like we spoke last night's second half into existence.

I was there. It was very reminiscent of the experience of sitting through the 2006 MSU football game.

I was at the 2006 game too.

I do remember the 2018 game vividly because it was the weekend I proposed to my wife. We were in Chicago and went to The Tin Lizzie to watch the game because she is a diehard Spartan. Since it is a Spartan bar, the place was going bananas at the end, much to my dismay.

A big difference was we fought back against MSU after blowing the lead and it was a close game down the stretch, though obviously our momentum had left the building.

I was also in attendance at All State. I distinctly remember how loud the MSU crowd got in the second half.

Ugh.

I don't know. Perhaps it's because I play so much golf, but I have a pretty decent ability to forget stuff like that game (at which I was in attendance). Thanks for bringing it up. . . not
