Back in early 80's, there was a great album rock station here in OKC... KXY 96X. They changed their format to country and played "You're the Reason God Made Oklahoma" for 24 hours.
Later, the other rock station in OKC, KATT, changed their format to elevator music. It had people worked up in a froth. Around noon, they came on and said "APRIL FOOLS" and played Ozzie's Crazy Train.
Yep, I heard about the KATT ruse...it was legend up here in Tulsie Town.

I'm so old, I saw those guys, Tommy James and the Shondells in Dallas in 1967 I believe.
I don't remember it so I had to have been there.
There was a short lived rock station out of Broken Arrow, KTBA...their claim to fame was the two DJs would get completely blitzed on the pot, then openly brag about it.
Needless to say, there was a lot of 'dead air'. No surprise.
Then KMOD came along in 1974 and have ruled the rock and roll airwaves since. To critical acclaim I might add. They're pretty good for Tulsa, Earth.
