I went to Camp Currie 30 years ago. Judging by what I saw online, it's pretty much the same. I didn't see any classes on Facebook account creation or Lacrosse. Still hunting, fishing, swimming, archery. I think they may still have the exact same patches. Hell yeah I got all those patches and went on the voyage. Plus, every night got to buy and drink all the coke I wanted at the PX.

I went to Camp Currie c.1974. Mucho fun. "Teal duck" cabin. Still have all my patches (got all except swimming, I think).

I went! I went twice! Got all the patches my first year and went back anyway. Kinda cheated on the tree identification test. We ran over a big catfish on the boat trip. Spoonbill, I think. I was born in '61, so, '72? I can't believe it's still there!

Went to Camp Earl Wallace in the early 70's. Worst week of my life. Counselors were jerks. Rumors abounded about the poor camper who dropped the soap in the shower. I decided swimming was good enough. Love how they say on their website that " they do the best they can when hiring counselors" and that campers "are for the most part supervised all the time."

Camp Webb in 4/5 or 5/6 grade. Not sure on years. First year was miserable as only one other kid from my school went. Next year a whole group went and had a blast.

I remember there was a typo on the first aid badge test. Instead of Passing Grade:75% it said Assing grade. It was a lot funnier to a group of 10-12 year old boys in 1980 than it is now.

My older brother went to Camp Currie around 1978. I remember he had a jacket that mom sewed the patch on.

Who can't learn to swim or at least tread water?
Silly, that's not a test of swimming. They threw a cantaloupe sized rock into the lake. Probably 10 feet down. You got three chances to dive to the bottom and bring it back.

I went to 4-H camp in London. Had a blast. My son has gone 3 years in a row now in Russell Springs somewhere. He has a blast too.

You going to Eggfest next weekend?
Camp Earl Wallace for me. I think. Was that the one down at Lake Cumberland? I went there a couple of times as a yongin. Don't remember how old I was. But it had to be late 70's.
funny story, many years after going to that camp, some buddies and I were fishing in Harrods Creek in the middle of nowhere in the woods when out of nowhere, the Game Warden, Fish and Wildlife guy, whatever he was, red headed guy, who led Camp Earl Wallace when I was there, literally walked out of the woods and asked to see out fishing licenses. Fortunately we had them on us, he thanked us and walked back off into the woods.

Camp Currie 91. Caught the biggest fish that week.

Great experience. Every kid should go. Still use some of the Hunter safety tips and boat safety stuff we learned to this day.

Camp North Star for me. The highlight of the summer was the hot dog eating competition against our rival, Camp Mohawk.
