I agree with you, just wanted to see if the fan base is as divided as it seems.I think this poll is useless, the coaches should start (and play, the whole game if needed) the QB that gives us the best chance to win the game, and the fans be damned. Too important a game.
He makes big bucks to get 8 guys on the field. Probably not money well spent.I don't get it why everyone thinks Stoops should get 5 or 6 years to build a program, when he clearly is making little or no progress. We're underdogs against Vandy in his third year. Wake up.
That's what I think will happen as well. They start Towles but give him a short leash(they may just throw away the leash and take him by the collar) and if he plays well the first series they'll give him another but if not then they'll quickly pull him for Barker. I believe they know if they replace Towles then there's no going back and that's why there so reluctant to make the change.Completely agree with jauk.
What I think will happen though is that Towles will start. If he doesn't turn the ball over and shows potential to drive the ball then he'll continue to play. If not, then Barker.
Do you just toe the line no matter what? You should question.

Question what? You have no insight on the team. We may just not have the players, depth and experience yet.Do you just toe the line no matter what? You should question.
This. I almost think that Towles would welcome the relief of expectations being taken off his shoulders. The job of qb appears to be too much for him to handle from the mental aspect. The bigger the game, the worse the perform. Just has trouble handling the pressure of the position. Great practice player, deer in the headlights when the scoreboard lights come on. Easy to see for anyone who has ever played organized sports.I think if you name Drew now the fan's spirits pick up with interest plus you show Drew you have confidence in him. Hell I think UK's attendance at the game would really swell if we thought Mark was going to mix it up. He's been there 2 plus years let him go. Free Barker! Pat understands and is also ready if needed and it might lift some pressure off him
I'm fascinated at what you guys base this on. He should get some opportunities but I have no idea how anyone can say he should start.I think Barker "should" start, but Tolwes "will" start. JMHO
ditto

I too believe this is the plan, and they are taking a bad situation and making it much MUCH worst. Towles already has had his confidence sapped, now he will be going out there on the road against a tough defense KNOWING that just a couple of bad passes, or an INT and he is jerked to the bench. That's what I think will happen as well. They start Towles but give him a short leash(they may just throw away the leash and take him by the collar) and if he plays well the first series they'll give him another but if not then they'll quickly pull him for Barker.
If Towles starts it will tell a lot about the progress of Barker. Listening to the coaches, it sounds as if Pat will start again this week with Drew getting some early snaps.

I think if that happened a lot of people would ask why Towles gets an entire game to try and get going but Barker gets pulled after just a couple series. Then the other players may look at it as the coaches not giving Barker a fair shot and showing favoritism. It really is a sticky situation for these coaches especially in such a crucial game.I was going to agree with most of you on this. however, before posting, I had another idea and that is, I think it'll go in reverse.
Basically, Barker starts, gets 4-5 series and if he's struggling badly, then Towles comes in to relieve him. That would hopefully give our team a spark to get going.

Agree. Vandy is not a hostile environment but appears to have a very solid defense. Not sure you want an inexperienced back up QB making his first start there. In an ideal situation Barker would have more snaps under his belt but that is water under the bridge (wow, double metaphor sentence). The strange dynamic of this game is that it would not be a great win for Stoop's program but, conversely, would be a horrible loss. JMO.Completely agree with jauk.

I think JoJo Kemp starts and will channel his inner Matt Roark and lead us to a 10-7 win while throwing 2 passes.
In reality, I think Stoops is ultra conservative by nature and he'll start Towles...see how he does, and bring in Barker if things don't go well.

I think he starts Towles and if things don't go well will stay with Towles and say he just couldn't find a good opportunity to get Barker in.

Towles starts. If he plays well, Barker gets 1-2 series in second quarter. Towles again starts second half and again will play the most with Barker getting garbage time at the end. If Towles falters in 2nd half and Barker looked remotely competent in his 1st half trial then you got to run him back out.
If Towles starts out bad, Barker probably gets an earlier look and we all hope one of them can find his mojo.
Then there's always lining Towles out wide with Jojo as wildcat.
