Who's gonna guard Wilson from UNC

Gonna have to throw different looks. I think obviously Mo to start. Hopefully not Jela for more than 5 minutes. It’s Kam Williams who will need to step up to the challenge, because that’s actually the athleticism and size match. Still at a significant disadvantage though on both.

Wilson is gonna go off. Need Tega to shut down the point of attack because that’s where I think they’re weak. Chandler has to neutralize against Trimble. It’s realistic but a pretty tall order.

That’s a good shout and Kam seems to be getting more comfortable each game.

Mo D is our best shot, maybe some Ivisic as well.

Hoping the fact that it’s UNC’s first true road game (if you don’t count their exhibition against BYU) will help us some.
It's 2025-26

Trimble broke a bone in his arm, when a weight machine fell on him. He is expected to return this season, but won't play against the Cats.

UNC at Rupp for whatever reason doesn’t scare me at all. Strange I know, because our games against good competition have looked abysmal. Something about the lead up after Thanksgiving and it being at Rupp makes me feel like this is a recipe for us to show we can beat quality competition. Let’s hope my gut is right this time.

Is Trimble expected back by the time we play them? I haven’t read a recent timeline but I thought he was likely out til late December, like a 6 week timeline.

We really need this one. Lose and I’ll start questioning if we make the tournament this year

Yes, we need to win at least 2 of big six games to make hope of tournament, otherwise it looks like we will collapse even before sec plays

Need to win one of UNC/Zaga, and win Indy.

Not every team can revive like last season's Arkansas

Sorry, but look like the quality of our starter seems to be lower than UNC?
Yes. They are going to contact UNC aka The Filth to cancel the game. The projected score was going to be 252 -6 according to the Rupp Bennies so we are going to give up. Pope is expected to miss 35 threes, make 25 turn overs and foul out 90 secs into the game. More than 15 Bennie’s are expected to cry.

Definitely can change the trajectory of the season depending on how we perform in December. Beat UNC, Gonzaga, Indiana and ST Johns and we are back in the top 10 and everyone forgets MSU and Lil Brother. Go 3-1 in those games and still in good shape.(before the season started 3-3 in the big OOC games was realistic expectations)

Go 2-2 and we are looking like a 5-7 seed in tourney. Go 1-3 or 0-4 and it’s not looking good. I think realistically 3-1 in those games is doable. Do that and we are in good shape still. JQ comes back mid month like I believe he likely will and we will be fine. He will change our defensive presence and also help offensively by his presence. Time will tell, this season is up in the air at this point.

Even tho I was all in on Pope and I’m still on board…. Last years team never gave me a hopeful feeling.

I never expected to win big games. They won most of their big games surprisingly. Felt good after the win but before I still always felt we would lose.

I hate that I was pumped all summer about this team just to turn around and have that same hopeless feeling about them. I’m not giving up on them or anything but I hate having that hopeless feeling like we really don’t have a chance at anything big this year.

Hoping they prove me wrong big time.

I don’t feel good about that. I don’t know if we ever get back to playing like that Purdue exhibition. We all know it wasn’t too serious but just the way we played was night and day different. Even last game we were too sloppy with easy misses.

He will give us ten free points off the top just from put backs and free throws.

My expectation of him even after the injury is to come in and be the best garbage man in the country by far. Make all the dirty plays look too easy. Send shots back into defenders faces. Offensive boards. Catch lobs. Nothing fancy everything looks easy.

The soft spoken beast. That’s a for sure bright spot BBN can hang one last hope on if the next few weeks get bad.

That’s my hope, he is gonna get his. Make someone else beat you. We have to guard the perimeter though. Michigan State can’t shoot and we made them look like world beaters.
Makes me nervous to let somebody get theirs. Brown got 20 by halftime. Wilson is a couple notches above him imo. Gotta slow him down. He will get his effortlessly.

I think it’s time for Mo to really step up and this would be the perfect opportunity. Shut Wilson down and be a beast on the boards. No threes ever again just hard screens and offensive put backs. Role with Aberdeen, Chandler, Oweh, Kam, and Mo with everyone crashing the boards.
We have to get better at our zoom action or get away from it.

Do we even have zoom offense?

Even against cupcakes, we just play Caliapari basketball...

No chemistry in offense (huge regress from Purdue game)

IMO only difference between Purdue game and MSU or Louisville is the players mentality. Purdue game was an exhibition, stats didn’t matter, playing time or who started didn’t matter, they played free and “Team” ball not “ME” ball. Nothing else changed, just their mindset and approach. It’s seeped into an overall chemistry issue now and players will have to truly buy into their role for the team to get back on that track. It’s possible, but a lot of moving pieces for it to happen.

Zoom only works if you can draw and read the defense. You have to be able to be a threat from deep but defenses are just sagging off daring us to shoot. Plus you have to be able to lead your man into screens and gotta be quick with back cuts. Chandler cannot do that, Oweh can but they know he’s gonna try to back cut or get down hill, Aberdeen is the same way. Then you got Garrison who can’t read wtf the defense is gonna do, Moreno is decent at it, and Jelly is still learning. We are very unprepared and not a smart basketball team.

I think the extreme balance in our last outing could be a positive indicator. You never know for sure until you face the pressure and adversity of a tough game again though.

I’m hoping they are shooting a good percentage from 3 coming in to Rupp, usually teams that shoot like crap have season highs against UK. We need this game in a big way, UNC is going to get better as the year progresses.
