Why are people blaming the fans for this?

Because it's the lazy thing to do. Even million dollar Matt Jones stuck up for our football fans tonight. You know it's getting bad when he's doing that. The ink hasn't even dried on MJ's latest check from Barnhart so you know it's getting bad when you're being forced to call out the guy that's writing your checks.

Anyone blaming the fans must be coming from the "Boycott bad football" philosophy, which I haven't seen work in practice at any point in my lifetime. Otherwise, show me fans from any other school in the nation that consistently show up in force despite their team getting absolutely humiliated time and time again on the field. Louisville fans had already all but bailed on Kragthorpe midway through his second year, despite their team being 5-2 and still bowl eligible at the time.

well I do know that on this board many posters were saying we were bad fans. And it was as bad fans that cause the team to lose. Because we were not cheering for the team when they were getting dog stopped against Southern Miss.
I guess it was the fans Fault as well down in Florida when we were not cheering.

Those who blame the fans are either emotional tilt-a-whirls or they support the administration, which is NOT the same as supporting the program.

If the program sustains long term losses on the field, the administration should be held accountable. So far it has NOT been held accountable, and in fact the fans' dissatisfaction has been criticized by certain elements in the media and sycophants of Stoops and Barney who reside on this board. "You're not a real fan if you don't support the team" (which really means support Barney).

This is a concerted effort to gaslight and shame-bully the fans into supporting the administration, folks.

Amen. There's the root cause of the problem. No one is held accountable for failure.

Fans are part of the equation IMO. I blame our culture that is based on our history. So, I blame;
- Players
- Coaches
- UK Administration
- State legislature
- City of Lexington
- AD
- Media
- Students
- Fans
- Basketball

I see no quick fix. To fix UK football is at least a 10-15 year project, maybe more, since you probably need a whole new generation to grow up with a different mindset on what to expect from UK football. You cannot fix 50 years of inaptitude that's situated in the spine of the commonwealth with quick fix coaching changes. It's a long term project. It is what it is.

This has nothing to do with the hardcore fans that frequent this and other boards or fans that go to games, it's the rest of the "fans" that's the problem.
As an example, how many times have the lack of students in the student section been discussed? UK students don't go to games, they go home for the Weekend. If we could get the students to care about football, that would be a good start. Students are the fans our players interact with daily, and if they don't care, what does that do with our players mentality?

The only group that doesn't belong on that list is the fans. They've been the most faithful, and they've been the most abused.

Disagreeing with you does not mean they blame you for Stoops not winning.

You have nothing to do with it either way.

Do your own search. It shouldn't be hard, they're all over this board for the last three years.
I didn't make the statement as fact, so wont waste my time.

Will just let guys like you make ignorant statements as fact...some which I agree with by the way

No one is more disgusted with Stoops right now, I don't feel he can do the job....but that's based on fact and results not just mouthing off.

Huh? You call statements ignorant and then say you agree with them?

Do yourself a favor, cut your losses and quit now. You're looking incredibly foolish.

You are the one who cant back up his statements....weak!
Uh, no. Our statements are backed up by the record of the threads on this board. Just because you're too damn lazy to look anything up doesn't mean the evidence isn't there. You're just demanding busywork so you can move the goalposts when somebody does it for you. You aren't entitled to anything like that because you're one of the gaslighters.

Great reading skills....SOME I agree with because they are correct and have proof to be fact in regards to the coaching.

So, you agree with SOME ignorant statements? Do you still feel that they are ignorant statements? Because that would make you ignorant for agreeing with them.

Like I said, you should stop. You're digging that hole deeper.

That's how I've felt. All of us who post here on Rivals throw barbs at each other and toss insults at footbal/basketball only fans......we post on message boards ad nauseum about sports. We ARE The hard core fans who are there cheering game after game for football and basketball. Or for those who are out of town this is how you keep up with everything instead of falling by the wayside. It's the casual fan that is the issue. We need them to raise their expectations with us and help out pressure on the administration. We need their help getting on board.
