Why aren't KHSAA Football Champs in CWS?

I've never understood why CWS doesn't host the high school football championships...

Maybe there is a reason that has been discussed before and I missed it....

I would make it a priority to for CWS to host these events if I was a UK coach or Athletic Admin.

Kentucky as a state doesn't have a whole lot of legit D1 talent, and the talent that is here is split between UK, UL, WKU, and EKU...

To me, it makes sense for UK to showcase CWS and get the best programs and players from across the state to Lexington, especially now that CWS has been renovated and that there will be a new world class football facility.

It needs to be an event, some what like the Basketball Sweet 16.

Over the course of a weekend football championships at CWS. During those days the teams could use the facilities to meet, practice, watch film, walk through, and then play in the stadium...

Stoops is doing a pretty good job of locking down the talent...moving the football championships to CWS and letting all those players get exposed to UK football facilities, lexington, etc...would all but seal the deal for the best talent.

Up until last year, grass field played a big part in it. If weather was bad, KHSAA could have been looking at a scenario where the field was wrecked and killed the quality of the play.

Obviously UK will have to wait for the next bid to open up.

Not sure as to actual reason, but I think with previous natural grass field; it wouldn't be able to withstand 6 games on it within an approx 48 hr timeframe. Especially in inclimate weather. I think Mitch has stated though, that with new surface that is something they will pursue in near future. As well as like KMEA State marching band contest. Not sure how long out the current contract between KHSAA and WKU runs. Smith Stadium on WKUs campus recently hosted the state championships as well as C-USA conf championship game between WKU and USF. Was glad to see WKU get that contract, 1) because I'm a WKU grad and like to see them get in on these games and 2) glad to get it away from UofL.

Would be great for UK to get in on that, even as part of rotation; both for recruiting and another income source.
