Even in the Joker days we did the same thing. To add insult to injury, more than half of the time it is a touchback.

After it is all said and done, we manage to flip the field a whopping 20 yds. It's like a bad nightmare that I can't make go away.

Is anybody else noticing this? Is it happening as frequently as it seems to me or am I just noticing it a lot more at this point and it is something that rarely happens each season?

I'd think they would stop punting and start going for it after watching film of the last 10 times we decided to punt on the 40 on a 4th and 1 to 4th and 5.

Because, well, Stoops is a defensive-minded coach, didn't you know? But I hate that mentality. Sometimes the best defense is an aggressive offense.

It was 4-12.. Our tackles were struggling against 2 very good passrushers ect.. He was hoping to pin them back at the goal line.. Imo it was the right call at the time. The 4th and goal is debatabable but ky had about 10% chance of getting a firstdown in that situation.

Because our sorry coaches witness good coaches do this and they feel that they should do it, too. They don't take into account that our defense is giving up 600 yards and 50 points. They have just heard it's the "right play". And yes, it nets about 20 yards, tops.

To me, if you don't have faith in your defense to not give up a score at the other team's 40, then you shouldn't be giving the other team the ball at all.

Even if you pin them back, you trust our defense to keep them pinned down there? Really?

Believe it or not there is a lot of difference starting at your 40, than starting at your 20

There was only around 1 minute left in the third quarter when that call was made. We were down 35-16 at the time. We were actually on their 38 yard line at the time. Thats just a let's not lose by much mentality.
