Why Duke-UNC could never be a bigger rivalry than UK-UL

UNC just honored coach K for his 1000 wins in return for Duke honoring Dean Smith. Too much love on both sides of that rivalry for it to ever be a bigger rivalry. There's nowhere near the hatred for one another that you see in this state

I don't know if we can actually consider UL as a rival since they really aren't that competetive in the series . Lol

An N.C. State fan told me about the Duke-North Carolina rivalry. He told me that the real hate-rivalry is UNC-N.C. State. Those fans truly cannot stand each other. He also said Duke and Carolina fans root for a split every year so no one is embarrassed. Can you imagine that?

UNC fans used to have bumper sticker that read "Duke is Puke and Wake is Fake but the team I hate is NCState".

UNC / Duke is a bigger rivalry than UK / UL, to say otherwise is simply wearing your blue-tinted glasses.

Yes, UL may hate UK more than UNC & Duke hate each other. UK hates UL at a similar level (or maybe slightly less) than UNC / Duke towards each other. I should know better than most having lived in the middle of the NC rivalry for nearly 20 years and growing up in KY until I was in my early 20's. But that more extreme UL hate is simply because UNC / Duke is a rivalry of equals. Until this year UL has simply been a very good mid-major, UK's "lil brother", a little city school.

UK/UofL is not like Duke/UNC, Louisville doesn't hold its end up. UofL is not elite, and the series is not competitive. UK/UofL is more like Carolina and NC State.....
