why isn't Neil brown mentioned on this board today? Five minutes after every game his name pops up. But after the 35-3 beating at home from 5-4 Arkansas state not a word.

Look I hope Neil gets a lot of success as a Kentucky boy, and that last night didn't meet the bash stoops agenda but last night showed no matter how good a coach you are gonna lay an egg sometime. We did it in second half of usm and then at Florida. The rest of the season we have played fairly well.

Everyone keeps bringing up the usm game when they want to say he needs fired or not a coach capable of winning. But it happens to everyone.

Arkansas State is playing some good ball and looking like they are going to win the Sun Belt (possibly go 8-0 in conference)...not a good game for Troy, but Arky State has won their last 4 games (all Sun Belt games) by an average of 27ppg.

Neil's done a great job with Troy and is someone to keep an eye on down the road if we are searching for a coach at some point.

Up until last night nothing said Arkansas state was even close to being a good football team. 21 pt loss at home to Toledo, 31 pt loss at auburn, 14 pt loss at Utah state, five point home loss to fcs central Arkansas, Close win over south Alabama, and wins over two 2-8 teams and a 4-6 team

They might win their conference. But other than Troy, who is halfway decent? It just shows that winning at schools with terrible schedules and weak conference is a whole lot easier than winning in big boy football. Heck look at uofl, strong could win there, but can't win at Texas. Petrino's record against ranked schools there is what?

No matter how a coach does at these lower levels does it help promise success in bigger conferences. For every successful small coach who makes it, their is a coordinator or does it also. And for every time they fail, there is a coordinator who fails just as much. There is not a single way of knowing if a hire is good or bad until after the time has come to past.

Well, there's a shocker! I kid, I kid. My post was referring to the turnaround that Arky State has made and i think they are better than their 5-4 record indicated going into the game last night. They started 0-4 and are now 6-4.

As for Neal, of course know one knows how good of a coach he will be. You'll never know until he gets a shot one day at a bigger school.

Neal Brown will get an upgraded job IMO. Got his hat handed to him last night though. Still think he will be an outstanding coach.
