Those Final Four balls were legit. I think my dad still has a couple.I think one of those Pizza Hut basketballs from the 90s would be the best universal basketballs.
I used to have a ton of them, my parents always got me one when we made the Elite 8 or Final 4. No clue where they went I actually used them as a kid. Those Final Four balls were legit. I think my dad still has a couple.
I always hated how slick Genuine leather became after a lot of use. Not a problem on game days but in open gym with balls that are years old.Not that this is necessarily related, but the topic reminded me of when I MUCH preferred the feel of genuine leather basketballs compared to the composite leather versions back in my playing days. I haven't kept up with the nuances of basketball construction these days. I just always hated when I was stuck with playing with a composite ball.
Yeah, they required periodic care and maintenance with a leather cleaner/conditioner which kept them in good shape. Assuming those steps, they were way better.I always hated how slick Genuine leather became after a lot of use. Not a problem on game days but in open gym with balls that are years old.
I bet, the real deal is usually the best. I definitely prefer real leather jackets, watch straps, etc..Yeah, they required periodic care and maintenance with a leather cleaner/conditioner which kept them in good shape. Assuming those steps, they were way better.
Curious mind. How many years do a college basketball last before they change it out for a new one??? New ones to start each year? Are the ones used at the start of the NCAA Tournament Brand New Balls??
We tried that during the 2nd half of the 1984 FF against Georgetown. Did not work in our favorI think it would be interesting to play one game a year with a ball that was too large to fit in the basket.
Ha .... you'd have to make the basketballs the size of large beachballs for that to happen. The diameter of the rim is about twice that of the diameter of a basketball.I think it would be interesting to play one game a year with a ball that was too large to fit in the basket.
lol. Very true.We tried that during the 2nd half of the 1984 FF against Georgetown. Did not work in our favor
