Why not Doc as associate head coach??

That bridge was burned to the ground the day Hamrick hired him and he took the WVU playbook with him. Doc was probably pissed that Fast Eddie did not hire him instead of Stewart. Hamrick saw a chance for payback knowing that WVU was coming to Huntington on 9/10/10. That was the ONLY reason that he hired Doc.

He isnt a bad coach. I understand the bad blood though, and I doubt he'd make a difference.

The only way I would consider adding Doc, would be strictly as an analyst, not an on-the-field coach... Someone who can offer a different perspective within the analytics, and possibly leverage some recruiting relationships, however that would just be a secondary role. Marshall was not doing well when Doc was hired, the previous coach did not recruit very well at all, and out of his 10 seasons, he only had 3 losing seasons, I would say Marshall was an above average team, 8-9 wins was about the norm, so I do think he could bring value to the program AS AN ANALYST...

That said, if Brown would add an analyst to the program, id much rather him hire an actual data scientist who can extract far more value from opponent data/patterns/analytics. Someone who can develop a proprietary genetic optimization & predictive analytics via deep learning models. A predictive interface that can be used pre-game scheming & real-time "Next Play" prediction probabilities. This would bring more value then simply adding another coach/ex-player...

Its commonplace for coaches to carry smart-pads/tablets on the sideline, you could design a Real-Time "Next Play" prediction probability map that coach could view before calling the next play. Real-time game data could be feed into a high-end VPS for the genetic optimizations & machine learning analytics, then link the smart-pad to the VPS to be viewed on the sideline.

This would add more value to coaches, and would probably cost approx $120k-$150k per year, unless they leveraged WVU's data science dept and allowed Doctorate/Master students to work on this project as part of a class project, in which case it wouldnt cost but approx $2-3K per year for a decent VPS. However I would imagine WVU already has some quality servers specifically for high-end computation intensive projects..

Any rate, should Doc come to Morgantown, it should only be a "supportive role"... Id rather choose someone a little younger, someone experienced, bright, creative, and can connect well with HS coaches & players... Someone who can help opponent analytics, concepts & scheme, & pitch in on recruiting when possible. Im curious if Jeff Casteel will move back to an analyst role and we will hire another LB coach... Curious if we bring back Al Pogue, now that Kevin Steel wont return to Auburn...

Any rate, right now IM just hoping Brown extracts as much value out of the transfer portal as possible, thats probably the best way he can help this team at the moment.... Brown is well respected in coaching circles, so I imagine finding a quality coach to bring on board will not be challenging. That said, we need to do our part as fans and donate to the MAC. They just started a new "Time to Climb" campaign where you can donate just $21 per month, if we want a competitive program, we as fans must do all we can to ensure they have the funds needed to bring good talent on board...

Could you cut those 5 syllable words down to 2 or 3. I'm having trouble keeping up.

Interesting thought on recruiting. With only 16 signed so far this recruiting class is higher than most of Holgs in the past. and for those that think otherwise, they don't realize that every recruit increases the total score. When Brown fills out this class with 6-9 more the rating will go much higher.

HCNB better than HCDH at WVU?

Not what the facts show:

Ranked best to worst:

The only thing sucking so far is HCNB.
The only thing your "facts" show is it takes at least six seasons for a valid analysis of success. If a coach is hired and goes 12 - 0 but is here only one season your comparison makes him the best WVU coach ever. Funny how people consider their opinions to be facts. For an accurate direct comparison, HCNB has to coach here 8 years, the same as Dana.

I love how allen enthusiastically darts off to his special little google search machine and comes running back with his list of refutations and passes it off as if he completely annihilated an opposing opinion.

"Ha! Twitter isn't even in the top 10! pwned!".....meanwhile Twitter is 12
"Pfft, according to this list (that includes data the OP admitted was not a variable in their argument) Huggins isn't even in the top 10." meanwhile Huggins is 11.

But allen is so proud of himself. You reeeallly showed them.

There's a big game tomorrow. I hoping for a win. I'll be pleasantly surprised and happy if there is an upset. And we all know allen will infect the board with his bitter, remedial self after the game to spit at anyone who complained in the first half. And we also all know that should WVU get worked throughout the game, Poor Mrs allen will be taking the kids to her sisters "until daddy cools off. you know how much he loves his Mountaineers. He just can't stand when they lose."

So says, T-Bone, madmute, Allen, Buster, and 100 or so other profiles on multiple sites. Rumor has it that you begged for the banning, which would be par for the course. Move along now, as this thread is about Doc Holliday. Doc might make a good addition to the WVU staff, as he recruits Florida well. Do you disagree?

When does the wife stay at her sister's after WVU losses? 7 Bud Lights in? You strike me as a fat, red-faced, 2 beers per every dinner sort of degenerate, so....12 more like it? Does she stay overnight? I hope she takes the kids.

Is the phrase, "let's leave daddy alone until tomorrow....I know, I know, he didn't mean it. He's just upset at something else, not you...it'll be ok" commonly uttered around you?

You're so far off and out of your head it isn't even funny. You have issues. Seek some help. Get some therapy even.

Hitting a little too close to home? But that is rich coming from a guy who essentially threatens to fight other fans of the same school because they criticize a coach instead of the player.

You're the person whose coworker invites to his friend's watch party who starts making everyone feel uncomfortable due to how intense and borderline destructive you get during games.
