If the Big XII added six more teams, we would be the first super-conference. Imagine we take six of these teams for our new additions:
-BYU, - CSU, -HOU, -TUL, -MEM, -CIN, -UCF/USF
1- This would open up recruiting for COLO/Utah, Lou., Tenn area, Ohio, and Fla.
2- We would add millions and millions of viewers to the television market
3- We could get 8-10 teams to a bowl game

Div A- UT, Tech, TCU, Hou, Baylor, BYU, CSU/Tul, UCF/USF
Div B- OU, OsU, KU, KSU, ISU, Mem, Cin WVU
Possible Championship Game: OU vs UT!

There are several reasons not to:

-You wouldn't just add millions and millions of TV viewers. There is more to it than just having a team in a given market. There has to be some type of presence in that market. Teams like Memphis and Tulane have very little presence in their respective markets.

-You couldn't automatically just get 8-10 teams into bowl games. Just because you add teams doesn't mean you add bowl games. Almost all of the bowl games are already contracted out with conference tie ins. There simply aren't any available slots to get new tie ins, even if you add more teams.

-The TV contract doesn't increase. It only makes up the difference for having to split the money extra ways. The new schools don't add any value.

-The rest of the money (bowl games, CFP, NCAA tournament) doesn't increase, and simply has to be split extra ways.

Basically, the new teams won't bring in extra money, so it's essentially adding dead weight.

One more point. It's a bad idea to set up this thing based on the idea of Oklahoma and Texas playing in the CCG. The ACC tried to do that, and it was a disaster.

Why keep suggesting we further dilute OUr Conference?

Or why not boot the two weakest teams and return to 8? Reinventing The Big VIII would NOT be a step backwards, IMO...

Interesting....Who would you boot? I hope it wouldn't be any team from the original Big 8.

The two consistently weak ones, maybe. Whatcha think?

Well in football that would be Iowa State (strong wrestling program) and Kansas (very strong BB team) and both of them are the original Big 8 teams. Get rid of them because of football only and we become the Southwest conference.

Really zero great options for expansion here. If Boren and OU is adamant about staying in this conference then the best move the conference leadership can make here is expand the conference footprint into rich football/recruiting areas and hope for the best longterm. Because short term there are really no options to elevate the stature of this conference nationally.
