Nobody has noticed UK this year like ESPN and CBS. They have added programming just for UK. We bring viewers that aren't UK fans, that aren't college basketball fans. We are becoming must watch TV for our lovers, haters and the fringe. When Tiger isn't in the tourney, people don't watch. When Howard Stern has a guest host, nobody listens. The NCAA tournament is THE big money maker for the NCAA. They have noticed too. The NCAA wants nothing more than an undefeated UK - Duke final this year. Greed by programmers, and all the people who believe they can't miss UK's undefeated season or their demise is consuming this tournament.

I have the mindset that the Yankees are the Kentucky Wildcats of baseball and Tiger Woods is the Kentucky Wildcats of golf!

What about y'all...

Dude you've got it exactly BACKWARDS. Tiger was the best in the world for years WHILE cheating on his wife with porn stars. It was when he quit doing that after getting caught that he went into his slump.

The take-away? Porn stars do wonders for a fella's golf game.

Tiger? I think Nance was right when he said Calipari would win 4 NCs before Tiger won 4 more majors.

Not really...we aren't drawing ratings...college basketball is way down in viewership.
UK is the straw grasp at trying to salvage the ratings.
So, many talking heads are saying college basketball is so hard to watch, many of the average viewers are staying away. Ever though, we are 31-0...it is a team full of unknown players; not 3 or 4 year guys...UK is there to hate or like; but the players themselves, don't present a compelling story to pull in "other" viewers

Not sure what data you are using, but the complaints of talking heads about college basketball in general do not equal TV ratings for UK. I've attached a story from thebiglead.com.

Just this week Sports Media Watch said The Arkansas/Kentucky college basketball game drew a 1.9 final rating and 2.9 million viewers on CBS last Saturday, the network's most-watched game of the season. The previous high, according to Sports Business Daily, was 2.8 million for North Carolina/Kentucky in December. The only sport event, of any kind, that beat us last week was NASCAR and the Cavs/Rockets game.

Actually I think kentucky is closer to my baseball team, the st. Louis Cardinals. UCLA and the Yankees attempt to buy their championships. Kentucky and St. Louis are both second in title but win a certain way. A much cleaner way.

Also this notion that college basketball is "way down" in viewership is not accurate at all. Just this board running of the mouth with a mob mentality like it always does. A few idiots here say something enough times and everyone else seems to just take it as gospel.

The ncaa makes lots of menu off the ncaa tournament. As a matter of fact they make more than they ever will off of football. Viewership for kentucky is in the multi millions, and I couldn't find one college game that was anywhere close to scratching. (Scratching means no viewers; example msncbc)

I even checked out the Yale game and it had lots of viewers. Some of you need to stop and relax.

Now we are being compared to "Cardinals". Never, ever, never have I heard someone say UK is the St Louis Cardinals of basketball.

Sheesh.

Albany the yankee trash stalker is back. Wow dude seriously you and your other handle need to get a life. Do you still believe kentucky people are racist hillbillies? Coming from a Jim Crow piece of trash like you and yours, I still find it hilarious.

For chucknden or whatever your name is, I was comparing us to St. Louis because they too are second in titles in baseball but unlike the Yanks we win with an actual process. We don't try to buy the game like a yankee. UCLA is much closer to the Yankees. They buy the wins.

Anyone who understands baseball should get the analogy easily.

Kentucky and the Big Blue Nation are not to be compared to anyone or any team. It is Kentucky that other try to imitate or be compared to. Our Cats stand alone and look down the mountain, not up the mountain. We got on the mountain many decades ago.

Restating my original points more explicitly:

1) Because of the winning streak and the controversial status of UK, the TV audience for CBB in March is greater than previous years.
2) The tournament without us, brings significantly fewer viewers...not because our fan base is so big, but because joe-sportsfan wants to SEE UK win, wants to SEE UK lose, wants to witness history.

Points I was not making:

1) Kentucky players are adulterers.
2) Kentucky players are like your favorite baseball team.
