4/10 Willie’s. Sparsley attended. Good theme (beach night) and the students who did bother to show up seemed pretty engaged.

Still, this team, maybe above all others, deserves your support.

The ones that show up are much appreciated. They always show one guy specifically on the coverage, (was miming smoking some weed) during one of the early games. That guy is committed. Having been to the school (as I’m sure many on this thread have) I can clearly report that there is not much else to do on campus! I’m assuming the tickets are essentially free and the school transports these kids to the game?

They actually feed them as well.

tbh, more of them showed up by gametime than I expected and the ones who were there were very engaged, loud, raucous even. I appreciated them, especially considering how sparsely attended the game was by the rest of the fan base.

True. I was there and it was empty. The students and Fitzmorris had to provide a lot of the energy. (Martinelli too of course)

They were ok. One side was 2/3s full (by the USC bench) but the other was maybe 1/3 full. I almost went over there as the oldest student in school history! 😂

If students aren’t taking those seats, maybe they should give them away to high school kids who want to watch a game. It’s a bad look on tv to have half empty section behind basket.

It’s a bad look to have most of the STH’s not there. Tickets were $1 at game time. No one was priced out of the game.

I do have to say it was a pleasure going to game with being surrounded by MSU, Indiana, Iowa, Wisconsin, or Illinois fans. I will take the empty seats any day of the week over them. It was a fun game.

I guess just don’t understand why people don’t go to these games that live in the area for essentially free. It’s a nice thing to live within proximity of a big ten university.

People just don't go out much any more. Live sports, live theater, movies are all seeing it. Restaurants are seeing more and more of their business in take-out orders. I go to all the games, but plenty of people won't even go if it's free. It's just less of an effort to watch on TV.

The 8:00pm weekday starts are late esp for people with young kids and that have to work early jobs. I don’t remember so many late weekday games pre 18 team big ten.

Yeah I like the 8pm. People complain about 6pm being too early. 8 is too late. Maybe purplecat88 is right.

Heh, if I could afford it I would absolutely live in that neighborhood if only for a short walk to the various NU sports events.
I also like the 8pm games, so much easier to get dinner and the drive without leaving work early and battling serious rush hour traffic.

Takes me an hour+ to drive home to Woodridge, and I turn into a 67 year old pumpkin at midnight... you can keep your 8 pm starts. And no, I'll tape Saturday night's game at Washington and watch it in the morning

This is a great idea and an easy way to build our non-alum part of the fan base.

I was given a Wilson Club ticket once, went with a group of people and it was great, but the game seemed sort of secondary. Honestly, I prefer my upper deck tickets.

Student turnout could have been affected by big norovirus outbreak on campus. It's quite the topic of discussion in the parents FB page
