5. Creating a culture. Nope. If he has, I hate this culture.Wasn’t for Payne being hired due to the lack of HC / running a program experience but, I did think that there were some things that we could count on.
1. Recruiting - nope. Never mind pulling high level recruits, he couldn’t convince existing players to stay. I don’t want to hear the ncaa excuse either - other teams under a cloud continue to recruit well. His statement about not wanting to use NIL because he only wanted players here for the “right reasons” is incredibly naive and chasing away existing players that could have helped this year’s team was poor.
2. Effort - nope. None of really had an idea what offensive and defensive systems he would employ but, I sure thought he would be able to get the players to play hard for him. You never want to have to coach effort but the fact that these players give so little of it tells me that he hasn’t reached them and, that they don’t believe in what he’s doing.
3. Development of the bigs - nope. I mean that’s what Payne and manning are known for - right? Bigs are out of shape and don’t play hard.
4. Player cohesion - nope. As a players first coach(es) - you would think that he / they would not have a problem getting everyone on the same page. And all this nonsense about the players being “damaged” is ridiculous - now it seems that they’ve bought into that sort of negative thinking.
This year couldn’t have gone worse if Payne was a yut plant trying to eff up the program.
No way in Hades would I.He’s got $10 Million reasons not to
Barring something unforseen, Payne will be here at least for one full season and probably more. It's just hard for me to imagine Louisville sitting at 2 and 24 in February and KP still on the sidelines.

If I got a sweet settlement to walk, yes. UofL can’t afford, literally cannot afford, ****** basketball.would you resign if you got $3.35 million a year for 6 years?
It depends. There's more than money on the line for KP. I'm not sure if already has millions of dollars or not but he has to consider his future as a head coach.would you resign if you got $3.35 million a year for 6 years?
And sadly he’ll still have fans defending himLouisville is 1 of 4 remaining winless D1 teams this season.
Winless Teams:
Louisville
California
Central Connecticut
Green Bay
I’m calling over/under on wins 2.5. At this rate, no way they get 3 wins. I only see 1 potential win left on their schedule - FAMU.
Spoiler Alert - They are not going to get a win over Lipscomb. This team seriously may not win a game.
A 1-30/31 record with mostly blowout losses is on the table. KP is staring a potential winless season in the face.

Oh that's what I and most others are hoping for but not sure if Payne would feel the same. It's really up to Kenny at this point, but as others have said, why would he voluntarily resign with the money he is making? If he only wins 2 or less games (zero?), then it is a very extreme situation and the AD would not look bad in making arrangements for CKP to exit in a friendly and mutual manner. People were pretty lenient coming into the season, no one expected the very realistic possibility of going somewhere between 0-33 and 2-31 (my prediction at this point).
That's a fair question. What costs more, a perpetually empty YUM! center or buying out the coach?
It may come down to that.
If you stretch out his buyout $ for the length of the contract I believe it’s about 1.5mil a year. In which I think pails in comparison of the lost revenue of a perpetually empty YUM! Center. What costs more, a perpetually empty YUM! center or buying out the coach?
It may come down to that.
Hiring a new football HC might matter here, hard to say.
That's Zipp's wheelhouse, @the artist FKA zipp
Problem was - they didn’t ask Zipp or, any of the thousands of fans who questioned this hire. The only opinions that mattered were Bridgeman’s, Eaves, Maybin and the rest of that crowd.Zipp was right, looking back. We should have hired Davenport to weather the storm until the cloud lifted - and THEN hire a coach. Looking back I don't think the results would have been any worse and truthfully probably would have been much better. Much friendlier financially, as well.
How do we know they didn't reach out to Davenport?
