Leave UK as a cat, or not. we should know by the weekend. If grades are in order, I say we get him. Forget about Arky St.

Certainly believe we do. Staff has been all over him from the get-go. Honestly, I'm sure he's already made his mind up and he's going through the paperwork as we speak. Wouldn't be the least bit surprised if he is announced by UK by Sunday afternoon. I'm sure they already have a verbal commitment, just going through all the motions, viewing campus, etc. He has to be officially enrolled in a college for the Spring semester within the next week, so I believe his signing is imminent.

He doesn't really have time to visit anywhere else at this point and commit. He's going to be a Cat unless something odd happens. Otherwise he'll be enrolling somewhere else for the summer semester and miss spring practice.

Sorry if I missed this previously, but is he eligible to enroll for the spring semester? Would be very good if he could. Don't know why, but for some reason I thought he still had another semester in JUCO to go through. It's hard to keep these things straight sometime!:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

No source, but 2 + 2 normally = 4

That is the conventional way of thinking, but I had a math prof in college that proved 2+2=5 using algebraic equations, but then he went back and showed where one of the operations involved dividing by zero, which is not permitted and gives you an indeterminate number.

In any case, it sure looks like he will be here.

This is part of the proof positive he is ours if we want him, and it appears we do, now eligible and a very limited time to get things done and enroll-----like he needs to do it now.

Classes at UK are starting...I imagine that is the case at a lot of places, if not right now then very soon...he has to get somewhere and enroll quickly...

I imagine if another spot was his choice he wouldn't be wasting a lot of time here...

a good healthy competition is a good thing...

just looking at the QB situation from the outside...Juco's don't typically transfer unless they feel very confident that they have a legit shot at getting some run...also, staffs usually don't go qb hunting to the extent this staff has if they are 100% sure of their current qb situation...if depth was the issue and they just needed arms for drills in practice and somebody to be ready in case of an injury then Hoak, Hughes, and a walk on would suffice...

probably in for a long battle that may not be resolved before the first game...could possibly see some sort of two QB rotation/system next season...at least early on until it is more clear who should play...

Why forget about Arky St...does it not bother any of you that this his only other scholly offer and none from a P5...

Nope, because we have watched tape and our new offensive staff who has turned freshman QB's into near record-setters wants him.

Kid's good. Offers and stars be damned.

Hawaii and eastern Michigan also offered. The top rated juco qb that is commited to VA tech does not have a very impressive offer sheet at all plus he only threw for like 1100 yards. This kid threw for 3400 yards with 30 tds and only 7 picks plus he averaged around 8 ypa on the season.

Just looked up the number 2 juco qb. His only offers are from UAB and Utah. Juco qbs are not generally hot commodities. They wanna start and the best teams usually are good because the have an elite college qb.

Agree completely. Why the concern, with the doubters . If Hinshaw & Gran want him, good enough for me.
Also, a lot of the 4 & 5 star QB'S in high school, never live up to their press clippings in college.

If you trust your staff, do you want them turning away players because fans will not respect the other schools recruiting the kid? Should Hinshaw care about that when trying to see the potential in a QB recruit?

Does that mean that he won't be an early enrollee? I thought that the last day that a mid year JUCO could sign was tomorrow.

Idk when it is exactly, but he could have already signed. The fact that his decision is already made and he still has another day on his official visit left says something to me, anyway. He could announce Saturday and head back here immediately after that. Have to imagine that a kid from Cali has some things he has to take care of before he leaves for Kentucky. Don't think he would sign and stay here for good after that, leaving anything and everything he needs all the way across the country lol.

I could be wrong though. I heard it was sometime next week, actually. I'm sure if he's signing, he's getting it done while he's on his visit.

Just read where P Loney said that he can still sign & enroll this weekend. I thought that the 15th was the last day, but it sounds like may not be correct. I guess we will find out soon enough.

FWIW, Josh has put in a 247 CB pick for Johnson to UK earlier this evening. There's a teaser article on this site on the House of Blue titled "Commitment Watch". Not a done deal by any means, but it looks good for UK to bring Johnson into the fold.
