Will the past be dug up again?

So I see on the national news this morning about the FSU QB punching a girl in a bar, and I immediately wince and wait to hear Mixon's name brought up in the report for comparison.

Shockingly, it didn't happen. I'm doubtful that it won't happen.

I'm surprised the media didn't link the two incidents or at least refer to the Mixon incident when reprorting on the FSU QB. But you know they will. I suspect we've not heard the last from the incident with Mixon either.

Truth be told, JCon, I'm guessing 99% of us had that same initial reaction...Now, just waiting for the other shoe to drop...Odds are, it will...

As if FSU had any other choice when they did not dismiss Winston after serious rape charges (purely to win a NC). I initially thought Mixon should not be allowed back but he has served his punishment and now he should be allowed to come back as long as he keeps his nose clean. Have not seen his tape but from what I understand the women Mixon punched was much more aggressive then the one the FSU qb punched.

Hope this discussion goes away.

I've seen both. It's hard to say which one is more confrontational. The difference with the Mixon case is that he was called over to the woman.

The FSU case looks like a crowded bar and the woman is leaning on the bar - hopeful to get helped next. It looks like the FSU player has outstretched his arm and is grabbing the bar as if to make his stake in line as well. It's hard to tell who pushes first, but it looks like the girl pushes on his arm to "fight" for her spot on the bar. He gives her the gentle elbow back as if to say, "huh-uh, my spot." She takes exception with the shove and turns around to face him and put her hands towards him which he immediately grabs. She then yells at him, gets one hand free, and punches at him. She doesn't really land the punch well - maybe just a graze. He punches her back.

Everybody who has frequented a popular bar has been in one of these "fight for your place in line" scenarios, but I've never seen one become violent like this. Usually just some piss and vinegar.

In fact when I used to frequent busy bars, we would intentionally send a female friend to the bar because:
1) bartenders usually address them first
2) to avoid sword-fighting over drinks

Now I just stick to holes in the wall.
