Will WBB win another game this season?

It’s a sad way for McKeown to end his career. So strange that both he and NU wanted him to coach this year after the past three really bad seasons. And it’s looking like this one will be even worse.

I watched a few minutes of the game against Iowa the other night because that is all I could take. In the end, it looks like they fought to a respectable final score, but the few minutes I watched were horrendous. They were slow and got beat down the floor. They turned the ball over on stupid passes. They must have settled down some based on the final score, but what a mess that program is right now.

I tried to watch myself. Hard on the eyes.

If only Grace Sullivan had one good shooter playing alongside her . . . Of course, better defense would help, but the D contained Iowa for most of the game.

I think we can edit this post to ask if NU BB will win another game this year, sadly.

Are you serious?
Yes. Outside of Caitlin Clark’s tenure, it’s an awful product to watch. And everyone knows this at heart but are scared to admit it bc of politics. I’ve been to WBB when we were good and it’s like watching junior high basketball.

What does politics have to do with basketball? You must not live in Connecticut where women's basketball is huge, and rather entertaining. It's a different game, but it can still be enjoyable. Heck.... when I was at NU, the women's teams were way more fundamentally sound and played more competitive games than the men.

Wow. Your perspective is ridiculously narrow and incorrect in so many ways.

A lot of basketball purists traditionally prefer the women’s game. With less emphasis on playing above the rim, the game leans more into traditional skill: reads, passing, shooting, and halfcourt execution. You see more purposeful ball movement, floor spacing, and a heavier reliance on set actions instead of isolation and verticality. The stars also stay in college longer, so teams actually get built around them and you can see their games develop over time. For people who enjoy watching concepts executed and possessions built, women’s college basketball is an underrated gem. The women’s game is evolving however and there is an increased level of athleticism and individual players exploiting matchups through isolation.

100% agree. Can't locate the quote now, but am pretty sure John Wooden in retirement claimed to enjoy watching the women's game more than men's. He knew something about the game, we'd all agree.

I see a few games each season of a local college women's team. As of this week they had SIX players making more than 85% of FTs. One player is 38 for 38 for the season! They're well coached and, though lacking the best individual talent, lead their conference at this point. Don't tell me they don't play good -- and very watchable -- basketball.

The women beat Wisconsin last night at home for their second win in a row. Down 10 in the first half, then used a 14-2 run spanning halftime to take control of the game. Seems like the defense is coming together, though the schedule remains brutal.

As someone said earlier in this thread maybe the question is now will the men's team win another game since we know the women have accomplished that feat

Women's soccer definitely better to watch
