Hard fought game. Some serious sloppiness, but they didn't have stringent practice this week. Good to see the bench some, but you have to wonder at this point what is holding the trio back. They are ready.

But I digress, this was about a team win and that's what Duke did tonight. Well done fellas!

Luke is playing out of his mind right now! Hopefully he can keep this up... I'm hoping we see the freshman Saturday even if it's for like 5-10 minutes

Vrank looks like he can contribute. 7ft is 7ft. Just curious ... why do you say they're ready? I'm ready to see them.

Depth is being developed. Injuries are never good but Duke is set up to make the most of this unfortunate situation. When the frosh do return there is no pressure on them to save the day. I know it's hard but it's a LONG season just be patient folks. Before you know it, we will get all that we're starving for.

As for the game, it was a very business like performance. They went out and got the job done . Nothing special. Luke is what he was in high school a scorer. It just took him a year to get comfortable and confident.

Luke and Amile were again the stars for the team. Jackson played well, that open court steal showed off his incredible quickness. Grayson started to get in the flow a bit and had some jumpers fall for him. I really like what Vrankovic and Jeter did tonight, they are going to be good players in the future

Interesting to know.. Tatum being the furthest away is a little concerning, But then again we really don't know how "close" Giles and bolden are

What the ****?! Tatum was wearing his ******* JERSEY tonight, but he looks further out than a guy who hasn't played in a year? What the ****, this is some straight ******* ********.

I'm genuinely concerned about the whole chemistry of the team. I know we have the best coach in the business, but the longer these guys sit out the harder it becomes to incorporate new players and mesh as a team. I think people are underestimating how big of a deal this really is.

Who were the announcers on espnu tonight? The color commentary guy was annoying...he kept going on about himself.

Would you rather they not come back at all? I'll take the risk of chemistry issue in exchange for the talent. And besides, if they get back before conference play that's still a lot of games, a lot of practices, and big games for them to work things out.

Great performance by our guys in getting the win. Luke keeps getting better and better. Love it! Amile's a beast. Only thing I didn't like was the defense leaving a man wide open under the basket for an easy shot. Gotta clean that up! Sucks to hear Tatum being farthest along. Shocking, considering he was wearing a freaking jersey! Anyways, gotta another game to watch!

Go Wisconsin!!!

Didn't say that at all. It's a legitimate concern. Not sure how you got that I wouldn't want them coming back at all. Chemistry is an important and sometimes delicate thing. You have 3 projected lottery picks sitting on that bench who are all used to being the 1st option, along with veterans who've busted their asses the first 6 games to keep things afloat. The longer this goes on, the harder it becomes for those guys to assimilate. It's a simple fact

I trust these guys to have the chemistry once they are healthy. I understand the frustration , but the truth is we don't know how any of them look or feel right now.

I trust the best coach in the country on this.

I remember hearing that the team had developed a strong chemistry before the season started, so it's possible that it might not take long for them to redevelop that same chemistry.

Ugh. I never claimed that you were saying that, I posed it as a question so as to make a point. I don't disagree, the team will be different so the coaching staff and players will have to work things out and find out who the team is when healthy. I just don't think it's this major thing that will harm the team, I see it as more about figuring out how the pieces fit together. It's just not worth worrying about because the alternative is not getting them back at all. You know what I mean? There's no reason to view it as a damned if you do, damned if you don't, no-win situation here.

There's no evidence that 3 lottery picks is automatically going to be the big thing that harms the team. The vast majority of these high draft picks are willing to be part of a team and by all accounts Bolden, Tatum, and Giles are excellent team guys. And there is a lot of basketball to be played January through March, a lot. There's still going to be plenty of time to figure out how to fit the pieces together.

From a post on DBR:

"I got a chance to talk to Giles after the game. I said "I thought watching warm ups you might play tonight". His response "So did I". So looks like he is ready. He moved and jumped well during warm ups. We saw Tatum after the game too and he was in the protective boot which makes sense as they use those boots often for players with foot issues even when they are actually playing in games, they wear boots afterwards. (Grayson was in sneakers after the game). Tatum told us he is close."

I honestly believe the most talented team isn't always the best "team". We saw that in 2010 without Hendo, Elliot and missing on Wall. I also believe we saw that when Kyrie returned and changed the makeup.

The thing is...there is still SO much time before it matters. It isn't even December yet!

Very true, its a difficult task for a coach to manage chemistry even our own Coach K. There's a timeframe where these things have to play out, so I understand your concern...

Obviously there was the Kyrie re-insertion which went awry, and now you must work 2-3 back in to the line'up. You cannot help and wonder about the dynamics of the chemistry, per who plays, who sits, etc...Its bound to cause at least one player some noticeable minutes- just hope Luke doesnt come off the bench because of it...

Patience is a word we're all sick of hearing right now. They will be back --- all of them --- at some point. Hopefully that's sooner rather than later.

Oh for sure!! I think its just one of those Chinese Water Torture type things...Then the mixed signals about Tatum's status, etc.....As you say "sooner than later" per chemistry purposes....

I think Giles 180's and windmill dunks in warmup were why we thought he might play. Tatum looked the stiffest and Bolden was dunking and running all the drills. Can't be in too bad of shape if they can go pretty hard in warmups. Can't believe it would be too much longer for those two. I could believe 2 weeks for Tatum.

I guess Cory Alexander needs to be lumped in with other anti-Duke guys. He wasn't Elmore bad, but he was clearly not a Duke fan. Commented that the rims at Duke were super soft ..maybe true...or maybe he's sore about JJ breaking his record.

Amile just keeps on doing his thing. He is our most important player. 13, 10, 2blk, shoots 65% and defends the post without fouling.

Good call on Amile. Everyone plays their role but I could be convinced Amile is the one piece Duke can't win a title without...even as his role shrinks some over time.
