Wireless Routers

I need a new wireless router. I have an Apple Airport Extreme, but it is 6-7 years old and struggles in the furthest part of my house (I have a 2-story, 2500-square foot house, so I don't need the top of the line, just something better than what I have now).

Anybody have anything great they are using? What about mesh network routers like Orbi or Eero or Google Wifi?

I think @_Chase_ can help, he has router problems on a bi-quarterly basis.

Could always just grab another apple off eBay or CL and use it as a repeater. All Paddock level homes need multiple :100points:

Get a repeater and optimize it..much more cost efficient. I didn't lookup the brand you have but it sounds fast. Just ensure you have the latest firmware...

Do NOT get a repeater. Unless there's some new technology I missed in the last few months, repeaters just create a 2nd network, and switching between the two while roaming is spotty. Not only that, a repeater by nature will slash your network speeds.

Repeaters/Extenders have been replaced by "Mesh" networking. Luma, Google Wifi, etc.

These new Home and SoFo networking options are designed to eliminate dead spots and ensure you have connectivity in every corner of the house. This technology became essentially for the smart-enabled homes you hear about. Your doorbell needs internet access if you want to get alerted on whose knocking right?

Setup is easy and all you do is put the main unit where you're existing router is, and then move the 2nd access point/router (and 3rd, 4th, etc) to different places in the house to create a sort of "mesh".

I set this up at my mom's as she lives in an old farm house that kinda sprawls out. She can now use some smart devices like the Dog camera and the light switches you can turn on from your phone.

But not only that, using the itnernet is just better all around. From the bathroom, to the porch, no drop offs.Definitely look into this.
