On this Rivals site, even though we're only given one Five Star, is the highest at 7th. And we still have several recruits that we're favored for who are highly rated, could raise things up even more.

I like where we're ranked. As a traditionalist, I generally give the most credence to Rivals as I believe they're the most consistent. That said, I see teams Alabama, Texas, and Clemson behind us with only 17 or 18 recruits so they're poised to jump us--particularly Alabama and Texas. If we could finish at #7 or higher, I'd be elated.

I don't get how the rankings are calculated but this class looks on par with last year.

Every site uses different formulas to compute team totals. Rivals doesn't use stars only. Each player is assigned a value based on specific value. All five stars are 6.1. But there are three levels of four star, 6.0, 5.9 and 5.8. So a 6.0 adds more to the team total than a 5.8. And so on, down the line.
