1st round bye, will play winner of 11-0 Stanford vs 15-1 Denver on Sunday May 16 at Noon on the lakefront.

Kind of a tough draw for the #2 seed, or so they're saying on the selection show.

They interviewed Izzy Scane on the show, implying that the Tewaaraton is hers to lose.

We'll know more tomorrow about attendance opening up. Pritzker's timeline includes May14 as a bridge to allow 60% of seating capacity at sporting events.

No word yet on fan attendance. I think if the Sox can sell to 60% capacity then NU should be able to as well.

I looked pretty closely at the draw. UNC appears to be capable of playing in a league of their own. Tremendous defense throughout the year. They had 2 close games. One at ND in a monsoon. And another one at BC when the Tar Heels' best scorer did not play. Both ND and BC are strong, but not in NU's league.

Nothing wrong with some solid to very good competition on the road to facing the #1 Tar Heels. We might be the only team in the Country with a chance to beat them.

"In consideration of all current Evanston and Illinois regulations and social distancing recommendations, and with priority given to invited guests of Wildcats student-athletes and coaches, Northwestern can not accommodate public attendance at this time."

From the Athletics Department.

Ridiculous. Very little evidence of virus transmission outdoors.

Going by the Inside Lacrosse ranking Florida and BC have the easiest draws of the ranked teams. But I don’t think NU‘s draw is all that different than the other ranked teams. Stanford is ranked 13 and Denver 14. limited inter league play does make this a hard year to know how teams stack up though. But the cats are explosive. The B10 is usually the second strongest league and the cats decimated the league.

Agreed. This is utter nonsense.
The NY Times published an item on outdoor transmission today:

An even bigger issue is the extreme caution of C.D.C. officials, who picked a benchmark — 10 percent — so high that nobody could reasonably dispute it.

That benchmark “seems to be a huge exaggeration,” as Dr. Muge Cevik, a virologist at the University of St. Andrews, said. In truth, the share of transmission that has occurred outdoors seems to be below 1 percent and may be below 0.1 percent, multiple epidemiologists told me. The rare outdoor transmission that has happened almost all seems to have involved crowded places or close conversation.

Saying that less than 10 percent of Covid transmission occurs outdoors is akin to saying that sharks attack fewer than 20,000 swimmers a year. (The actual worldwide number is around 150.) It’s both true and deceiving.

Anybody know if they let you hang out on the footpath next to the stadium and watch the game?

They did allow us to watch from behind the east fence for the final home game v. Michigan, although the sight lines weren't that great. When I migrated to the north fence, the perspective was improved, although compressed. And the usher nazis would occasionally run us off if they thought we were in BTN (ESPN?) camera range. Not sure what kind of tv / livestream coverage there'll be on Sunday.

Astonishing that attendance is still restricted to family and athletes.
