Speaking of, what is everyone’s thoughts after K retires? Do we keep it in family? Or do we go message board? There are several on here that could step right in. Don’t believe me? Check out the gameday thread tonight if we start struggling.

Definitely message board, QC.

I remember reading something a few years ago stating that part of Duke’s contract with K is that he chooses the next head coach.

Can’t remember what site wrote the article so I’m unsure of the authenticity of that. Maybe I can research into it....

Some will want K to become the AD after he retires, but I don’t think he will. When he retires in 20 years he’ll dedicate all his time to his family. Probably go to games but will take a hands off approach unless asked to do otherwise by whichever DI member is coaching after K.

I think the most important thing is that we don’t end up like Indiana... Irrelevant most seasons but a cieling that filled with history and success.

Hmmm who do you think it would be. Might be a good thread to start!

Dawkins and Wojo come to mind. As much as I love our Duke family, I really think that in terms of continuing to stay relevant that we have to bring in a big name.

When he retires in 20 years

I know it doesn’t seem like it but he just turned 72. I think he will make a push to coach until 80 if his health allows but in 20 years he’ll be 92.....

He sleeps in a cryogenic freezer at night. He’s good for another 20.

I’m not saying you didn’t know I was joking, but it made me think about my email disclaimer at work.

If any of you have to have a legal disclaimer at the end of your email then you should consider adding this to the end of it (friendly advice, not legal advice):

“This email may include sarcasm and/or satire. Readers inability to appreciate these concepts absolves writer of any and all liability.”

It makes for a good response when someone takes a sarcastic email seriously.

@FearTheBeard

LOL!!! Seems like it, huh?

I really think that if his health allows it that he will continue to coach until he’s 80 or so. Hopefully at that point either Hurley or Wojo have made their way to a powerhouse program and build a big name for themselves and they take over the program in their prime. That would be the *PERFECT* scenario.

Honestly - I made a rude mistake. I didn’t even read your complete post on that one. The following sentences make the sarcasm obvious. I saw the “in 20 years remark” and stopped there. Definitely apologize!!! LOL

It won't be Dawkins. Wojo, Collins or Capel are the logical choices. Who can recruit the best.... Capel?
