So our state university in the rural mountains of Appalachia that happens to be the brightest of red when it come to our politics and our way of thinking in less than a year has chosen two Homecoming Queens and no king and now a female Mountaineer. The two queens is obviously pandering to be woke by the administration and our ancient leftist President. The Mountainette....the beard thing has been beaten to death so enough on that. My issue is factually historically correct. A woman of that era would not be wearing a buckskin shirt and pants like her male family members. Read the book or watch the movie "Follow The River" about pioneer woman Mary Ingles who was taken from her home just south of Bluefield by the Shawnee in 1755. She escaped a few years later from them in Ohio and walked home through the New River Gorge. Here is a depiction of her and other woman captives as they left for Ohio. They are wearing long dresses not a buckskin shirt and pants. That would've been scandalous and politically incorrect in that time period for women to wear pants. She simply would not. Imagine telling a woman today that in order to get the job she seeks, she simply has to pretend she's a man? OMG the fallout but we do it and love it at good ole WVU.
