Women’s BBall: Did Dawn make a mistake?

I know, I know, it’s women’s bball, but for those who like to watch our amazing ladies’ team…

Dawn made it known, on the record, that she would absolutely make a move to the NBA as a coach if the opportunity ever arose. And she actually interviewed for the Knicks job; although it seems they were never really serious. Did Dawn telegraph to future recruits that she is not that committed to SC basketball by doing that? And that she’s willing to move based on the opportunity?

Geno is a lifer at UCONN, as was Pat at Tennessee, but I’m not getting the same vibes with ole Dawny. Was that a mistake on her part? Why not just focus on championship messaging at SC??

No, I don't think coach Staley doing a NBA interview would hurt her or our program in the eyes of recruits

If a recruit has doubts, not sure why they would be more worried about Coach Staley getting a interview for the Knicks vs Geno being 71, seems like they would be more worried about Geno being so old.

The days of Dawn getting 3-5 of the top 10 players in the country are likely over.10 years ago there was only about 5 schools committed to winning a woman’s NC , now it’s about 20 if not more.Also NIL is huge because some schools like USC ,Tenn,Texas,LSU ,etc are offering girls eye opening money to play there.
I think that’s why Dawn is making good use of the portal to supplement her HS signees.

I think this could have mattered in the past, but with the portal players wouldn`t be stuck if they didn`t like a new coach.
