Boatraced Chicago State 97-35 to snap a 3-game losing streak heading into their Xmas torunament out in the desert starting on Wednesday. The game was less competitive than even our opening scrimmage, but the great news is that two players played after lengthy injury absences; starting PG Lisa Burton played after missing a month, and Lauryn Satterwhite played for the first time after missing about two years! In fact, everyone played but starting guard Jordan Hamilton (who, according to the broadcast, could have played if it was actually a game), which means we have 14 healthy players for the first time, in, well, forever! Too bad we got healthy for this opponent rather than for the last 3, though, as we could have beaten a team that has won one game in three seasons (!!!) playing 4, on 5, it was that bad. We had SIX players in double figures, and everyone by Byrdy Galernik scored, with center-in-waiting Courtney Shaw and Brooke Pikell getting their first points of their career and season respectively. But was great to see Lauryn and Lisa on the court, and they both played well; both can certainly be significant contributors for the remainder of the season if they remain healthy.

I listened to the game on WNUR, and of course the commentators made a lot of mention of Field Trip Day.

I wonder if Emily also contributed to the screaming, or whether it was just the field trippers.

I actually have not heard the screamer yet on TV. But I certainly heard those 4,000 grade school kids..they were loud!

Seriously? Man, she was obvious during the CSU game. I have heard here on TV during every NU home game. And I don't have a sound bar for my TV or put the volume up.

I can hear her (on TV or when at the games in person in Chi), but to be honest it really doesn’t bother me, not at all like it seems to bother some of you, I just hear someone yelling and it kind of goes along with the other noise. Must be some quirk of my hearing. Or maybe I’ve gone “numb” to it from playing drums earlier in life...

Yup, seriously. Guess I'm too focused on the game...

Yikes, sorry to hear that! Do you use the WGN feed?
No. I actually prefer watching a game without commentary. Easy enough to keep track of what's happening with modern graphics giving fouls, TO's, player stats etc.

Love the idea of Field Trip Day. I always thought it would be a great idea to give discounted or free tickets to schools for group activities at Ryan Field. IMHO, it would be a much better idea than downsizing the stadium's capacity with the added benefit of building a fan base for years to come. These comped kids will one day be paying adults. It would be a good way of building the brand, where we would truly be Chicago's B1G Team. Also for those who would be annoyed by the ruckus they would make, would you rather hear them, or hear "Go Big Blue?"
