Beat their 3rd ranked team of the season, and their second ranked team on the road, taking down Indiana 75-69, in a game that wasn't really that close. We grabbed an 8-0 lead early, and Indiana was never able to get it closer than 6 after that, with the lead in double digits most of the game. It was jst Indiana's third loss of the season, and first at home.
What was even more impressive was that it was a first win over a ranked team without our best 3pt shooter, Abi Scheid, who sat again with an ankle injury. Veronica Burton, who missed a month with mono but is looking extremely good of late, basically replaced Abi as our 3 point shooter early (16 pts, 4 3's in the first half, and a career high 19 overall on 5-10 3pt shooting), and Lindsey Pulliam turned it on late, with 19 or her season high 27 in the second half.
The main story of the game was rebounding, where, with the usual help of Pallas (her THIRTIETH career double-double, with 11 pts and 11 boards), we dominated Indiana on the glass, 42-29, and many of our 15 offensive boards were just backbreakers for Indiana; it seemed like every time they would get a defensive stop, we would get a rebound and make them play defense for another 30.
Watching the game, it was just an absolute offensive clinic for our women, leading by as much as 18 in the second half before we tired a bit late. And we will need Abi back, not only since she is a starter, but also the fact that we can go at least 9 deep with her.
We improved to 10-7 and 3-3 in the BIG and after one of the most brutal schedules in the country, we hit a bit of a lull by playing the bottom 5 teams in the BIG in a row (we are current in sole possession of 6ht place). So things are certainly looking up!
