My first game really watching women's basketball last night.

The talent does not blow you away but it is a remarkable balance of talent, chemistry, skill, experience and smarts. Reminds me a lot of '95 basketball with a team that just knew how to win and close games.

We have the best 3 pt shooter in the country, who I didn't see do much else--but that skill alone can blow open games. We have an elite scorer who was off last night but was aggressive and sets the tone, gets to the line etc... We have a couple bigs, one is undersized but super-athletic, the other is a big body who creates space. Both are efficient with put-backs. We have a couple other guards who play great defense. Nobody is an all-around dominant player, but they all play their roles extremely well.

I think the computers look at our impressive body of work, the human voters probably downgrade us based on the eye-ball test where we look limited in terms of size and athleticism.

A 4 seed gives us 2 home games and a real shot at sweet 16. A 3 seed gives us a little easier road and in particularly perhaps allows us to avoid a 1 seed juggernaut in the 3rd round. A 2 seed I think would give us a winnable game in round 3.

For those of us who haven’t watched very much, who is which player of the above descriptions? I can guess 1-2 but not all... Appreciate the information.

Abi Scheid is the best in the nation 3 point shooter. She's also played inside a bit at the 5 when Joe wants to go small.

Pulliam is the high volume shooter/ scorer. Usually needs a lot of shots to get her 20, also gets to the line a bunch. She's fearless, and very willing to take the big shot.

Wolff is the starting 5, 6' 4" space taker. Pretty good footwork, her shot has not been feeling the last few games.

Shaw is the undersized athletic 5. Her moves to the hoop were much better last night than usual. She blocked two shots door to her hops.

Burton is an incredible point guard. Great assist to turnover ratio. Great on ball defender, very disruptive hands with a boatload of steals.

Wood is a good defensive guard, good rebounder for her size, very limited shot. Last night she snuck in for some wonderful offensive rebounds and put backs.

The only thing the ladies did unusual last night was their turnovers. They have been excellent with the ball this year.

Hamilton is our 6th player, does some of everything, including shot 3s. We don't suffer much when she comes in.

Go Cats!!

Exactly as above. Funny that this is the first game I watched and you could exactly tell who I was talking about across the board. Sounds like these players know their roles and have their identities.

You need to catch up a bit. Veronica Burton is one of the best point guards in the country. Abi Scheid leads the country in 3 point shooting and had 19 against a good Ohio State team. Lindsey Pulliam will be first team all BIG again. Abbie Wolf has been solid all year, and Sydney Woods is coming off a game in which she made every shot she took from the field and free throw line. When the games are not on t.v., I watch the whole play by play on the computer. You should try the same.

Seems like every single game going forward is huge so I will watch whenever I can. Hopefully they will all be televised.

Get BTN+ for a month! But the B1G tourney will be televised, as will the NCAA.
