There are no guarantees that any of us will live to see tomorrow. But if you have 30 more years of work in front of you, I send my deepest condolences. Man, that would suck.

What's even worse is that I probably have another 20 years in the corporate world. Escape plan is already in action, but at 33 I don't yet see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Nate....Well, think about it this way. If you were 70, the end of the tunnel would be fast approaching. When I was 30, I loved my job and continued to enjoy it up until about the last 18 months before retiring. So do what you can to find something that you really can enjoy, and one day 20 years from now you will look back and wonder where in the heck did all the time go. Good luck and best wishes with whatever you go.

Also, Nate, you are in the unique position to witness how all the drama in the world plays out. Warts and all.
I'm of a curious enough nature to want to see that too, but alas, the actuaries have me croaking within 10 to 20 years. Even with that, I'll see more than I care to. I already have. Wow!

Your machine gun rate of avatars confirms you've seen a lot, but it also tells me you've seen less than you care to!

Is it true that every time you change your avatar, it is symbolic of having just jettisoning your pod?

No no, when you get to this age you don't waste the limited resources on that.

You save it for when you can hire that special gal...
