Read an article listing the ten worst refs from 2009-2014. The statistics used to formulate this list was the foul margin for home teams. Heading this list as the two worst was #1 Antinio Petty and #2 Doug Shows. Basically this statistical list showed that Petty and Shows called more fouls for the home team on average more than anyone else.
They do point out that these stats aren't all telling because some of those fouls over five seasons maybe the home team did commit fewer fouls. But all in all it could show which refs are the most intimidated or influenced by the home crowd. Could also mean these are two guys we don't want reffing any of our road games.
Kind of funny also that these two are listed as SEC refs a lot of the time. Most of the other top ten not primarily SEC the best I can remember.
