Offhand, both Weezer and Elastica fit this bill.
Pinkerton turned into a classic. Not as good as Blue, sure, and a financial disappointment, but a great album and easily their second-best by miles.
I disagree about it being their 2nd best by miles. All their albums are pretty good. They are underappreciated and overly criticized. Red album is the 2nd best also.Pinkerton turned into a classic. Mr Sturgill Simpson gave us a turd of a sophomore effort
If I understand the meaning of this thread then it's the worst 2nd album not a 2nd album that isn't as good as the first. Boston's 2nd album, while not as good as their 1st IMO was quite successful. Number 1 on the charts and 7x platinum.I disagree about it being their 2nd best by miles. All their albums are pretty good. They are underappreciated and overly criticized. Red album is the 2nd best also.
Worst 2nd album is tough because most of these bands didn't stay around long enough to be known. Off the top of my head maybe Boston?
Well..I guess I’m referring to the most recent album instead...my badDidn't like metamodern sounds in country music?
That's his 4th album.Well..I guess I’m referring to the most recent album instead...my bad
Theater has an iconic ballad, a hit cover, and one or two more good songs. I've always excused it because that's when Vince was on trial for vehicular homicide. It was actually the third album, but Motley Crue's Theater of Pain follow up to Shout at the Devil was a train wreck. I'd include this just because Shout at the Devil was the one that really hit mainstream. I thought their debut Too Fast for Love was completely badass though.
R&G was the last album of his I really listened to...heard some of the singles off ones afterwardsTha Doggfather, in hindsight, was probably Snoop's 2nd or 3rd best album (unfortunately), but off the heels of Doggystyle I couldn't have been more diappointed.
He completely abandoned the Gfunk sound, and never returned to it.![]()
The Black Crows & Skid Row come to mind. Both had massive debut albums and both of their follow up albums sucked
Agree. "Thorn in my Pride" was also one of their best.Southern Harmony was a very solid album. Remedy, Sting Me and Hotel Illness are good songs. Rest of the songs are pretty good, also. Didn't come close to being as popular as Shake Your Money Maker but I think it's a huge exaggeration to say it sucked.
