Relax and don't treat UK like your NFL or NBA team where they can't see what's going on based on some minor coinflip that went one way or the other. That's not what's going on here. Root for the cats on the floor in every game or if you don't like that idea, you might want to think about dropping college basketball.

There is no one game that is going to define whether or not a coach sticks around lol.

It's on the basis of seasons.............and if they do well an entire season............may as well stick around lol

Winning this game is bad for the future health of the program
You would be dead wrong. Winning last night has zero impact on what the situation will be at the end of next season. Zero.

Look, Pope will be able to do whatever he wants in the transfer portal. He did last season also.
Everyone thought going into this season that he had a stacked roster. Lowe not really ever healthy, and Quantance not being what everyone thought, has handicapped us this season.

That doesn’t mean that will happen again. He may actually strike absolute gold this time. If he doesn’t, Kentucky will be looking for a new coach after next season. It’s really no more complicated than this.

Just enjoy the miracle Win last night. Drink some beers. Relax. Being miserable all the time isn’t healthy for you.

these guys are making this game into something that it's not, like mitch was off to the side ready to give Pope a 10-year extension after Malachi's shot.

and the way we won is a big part of it. winning on a miracle last second heave and these guys are just "meh, not impressed, shouldn't have even been close". wtf is wrong with you, seriously?

i was laughing at the ending in pure disbelief. i just don't know how you could watch that ending and not feel any joy at all. if not for pope then at least for Malachi, a very good player WHO IS FROM GEORGETOWN. i thought we loved hometown boys here

Yeah, I jumped out of my chair when that shot went in. Great to see. Maybe it’s sparks something. Aberdeen, Oweh, and MM were fantastic. I also thought Jelavic and Chandler did some really good things.

Williams HAS to get more than 6 shots off, but, he played really hard, and was actually good defensively. Needs to be a 15-20 point score from here on.

Mo, Johnson, and Garrison were terrible.

Some people are always miserable. And they want others to be miserable too.

Nope. I was very pissed when Stoops beat Florida and Auburn. Thought it was going to make us stuck with him another year. It still cost us Sumrall. It’ll have to get ugly as hell for short bus Mitch to fire Pope so we have to hope for that. Going 22-14 with a first weekend exit is the worst thing for this program.
Pope ain't going anywhere after this year. Maybe after next year...if you read the tea leaves next year could be much worse.

I can't ever root for a Cats loss. So I'm thrilled they fought back last night unlike the blowhards mocking fans who got excited over Moreno's game-winner.

It's objectively worse for the program to be the bottom of the barrel and a laughing stock. For the health of the program long term, you want the "bad" years to really not be that bad. You don't want to fall off a cliff, much harder to rebuild, especially if it happens often. You can still move on from a coaching situation if it's been mediocre, which is far better than humiliation. It might be quicker to lose terribly but it's definitely not better.
Agree with this. I sometimes thought it would be better for the football team to lose a game to end the Stoops tenure sooner towards the end, but UK football is expected to be bad. I can't bear for UK basketball to suck lol.

I absolutely expect next year to be worse. We will get zero freshmen worth a damn, possibly zero overall. I also expect a lot to leave from this team. Oweh, Denzel, MoD, Lowe, Garrison will all be gone IMO. Then there’s a pretty decent chance Jelavic, Johnson, Noah and Chandler could leave.

That leaves you replacing basically the entire team with portal guys and they’ve yet to prove they can land the best of the best in the portal as well.

Anyway you look at it, the chances of Pope keeping his job here are basically next to none. It’s just a matter of when he will be fired/resign.

Not disagreeing, but if you're rooting for your team to lose and miserable, you're overthinking it as a fan. Just cheer for your team. Criticize when necessary and enjoy the good moments. It's just sports.

Ultimately, the goal is to win basketball games. It's ridiculous to be upset that we won.

It's very unlikely Mark Pope is fired after this season. Love him or hate him, we're probably tied to him for at least 1 more year.

We still have things at stake. All-time wins lead vs Kansas. NCAA tournament appearance. NCAA tournament wins. Once you get in, maybe you can pull an upset or 2. Maybe the bracket opens up. Maybe the 1 seed has a major injury.

I get it. We're all frustrated. But the guys fought back and found a way to win. That's a good thing.

Lmao who really gives a damn about freshmen?! I really don’t understand the fixation, other than finding something to b1tch about. Not to mention, this coming class is pretty weak. I wouldn’t mind having most of these guys back. If for no other reason than to build and maintain continuity.

Need to grab a couple shooters, couple PGs and a couple bigs. We can land those guys via the transfer portal, worst case. Let’s not forget, we will have Hawthorne and Potter back from redshirting.

Its cal fans still fixated on how cal does things
That’s what it reminds me of. I’m happy af that we don’t gotta replace our entire roster every damn year. Ecstatic to be honest. You really never truly know what you’re gonna get with any freshman, and that’s the truth. I would much rather have a team full of proven high level D1 players than a team full of non proven freshmen.
