I think it would be close. Our only loses would be against Florida and Bama. We would be 4-2 going at 5-2 this weekend. We would be close IMO.

I see your point and I guess it's possible, but If we're in the Top 25, it's a down year for college football.

Probably not with that shellacking for FL on our resume.

KY has a history of hanging out just outside the top 25. They will get close, and it's as if the voters say, "Let's see how they do when they go play #1 Florida in the swamp before we decide anything."

Then, we lose, and it's back to the drawing board.

That is one of the reasons why beating ECU in 2009 was one of my favorite bowl victories. ECU is one of those teams that squeaks into the top 25 every so often, while our "better" UK teams (those that go around 6-6) fail to make the rankings, or don't stay once they get there.

Both teams really wanted that game and played hard, and I think us beating them highlighted that a mid-tier SEC team that cared, was better than a good (not great, like the Jeff Blake team, but still good) ECU team that was ranked as high as #14, I believe.

"If" is a pretty big word; If my aunt had nuts she'd be my uncle. Except maybe in North Caroline, I think...wait, now I'm all confused.

But (another big word), we win 2 of the next 3, we'd be 5-4...nah, still not Top 25.

No.....we will have to kick in the door to respectability and ultimately ranking. I don't see voters willing to push the "I believe" button on ranking unless we (1) win 2 games more than the teams ranked 20-25 and/or (2) have a comparable W/L plus a big upset (top 15 team).

No worries....if we win....these things take care of themselves over time.

UF loss looks bad but we held Bama to their lowest point total of the season at their place.

Not even close. We would have wins against no one with a winning record:

3-3 Southern Miss
2-4 NMSU
2-4 South Carolina
3-4 Vanderbilt

Our two losses would be by a combined score of 79-13.

If the losses to Fla and Bama weren't so lop sided Id say yes. But since florida bent us over the table, and the Bama game, though more competitive, was a blow out. It would definitely be no.

I'm glad we are playing weak teams right now. We need to, but also appear capable of growing in the process, such that U of L in particular might be in for a rude awakening... in the form of a competitive game.

Think we would have needed to beat MSU this weekend and then we might push into it depending on what other teams already in the t25 do.

That was my thought, too, we haven't really beaten anyone of substance so I doubt very much we would make an impression on voters.

Maybe if the UF game was a single score game but with that blowout to the only other winning record on the schedule beside Alabama I'm going to have to agree with this

Neither does Ole Miss yet they are in the Top 25 with a 3-3 record.

How much did Alabama beat them by? Did they lose to southern miss?

They beat Georgia 45-14. Could we do that?

They lost by 4 on the road at Arkansas. Clearly, they don't deserve to be ranked. We do though.

IF we win the next two - I would expect some votes
That would likely make us no worse than 2nd in the east - a down SEC east, but 2nd nonetheless

They might get a couple of votes, but they won't come close to the top 25 unless they sweep the next 3 games.
