Host a Regional as the 16 seed, knowing if you win, you most likely have to go to Florida for a Super? Or go on the road as a 2 seed and if you win go to say.... Duke, UNC, or NC State?

Since the ultimate goal is Omaha, I think we would have a better chance as a 2 seed even though we haven't been a very good road team.

This should make for some lively debate.

I am with you as far as avoiding Florida as the # 16 Nat. Seed. If we are # 14 or 15, I would rather host.

I thought that was the process now. I thought the 1-16 was always basically snaked. Can't find anything on it though.

1-16 is snaked, but there is no seeding 1-64 (in other words, if UK is given the #15 national seed, there is no guarantee that the 2 seed in UK's region won't be the 17th best team or the 30th best team). Seems like they'll continue to make the regional opponents based mostly on geography.

To the OP question, I struggle with this b/c I really want UK to host. But, if there is a way to avoid Florida in the supers, I'm for it.

There really isn't any team in the top 20 other than Florida that has set themselves apart. Arkansas is close, but those are the only two at best. Even with Stanford only losing 8 games, they are 11-6 against top 50 RPI. That's not scary by any means. So, avoiding Florida on the road would be major. Still, we have to get there. It would be only our second super regional in history and in as many years. So, I just want the easiest route to that. Going past that would be great but even getting to a super is a huge success for our program.
