I might be wrong but I think that was suppose to be a non-contact passing drill and the shove by Ross caught Edwards unexpectedly - he was just clowning around IMO.

Look how huge Ross is by Edwards, though.

Edwards isn't small either. He's 6'0 200

Ross is like 6'6" 235-240.

I really like Ross, but I have seen this song and dance before. Can he play as good as he looks? We shall see...

A lot of these clips on here I get this response: "This browser does not support video playback."

Anyone have a solution to this, do I need to change browsers or what? Most clips play with no problem, seem to have the trouble on here mostly.

Could be a number of things. Since most of them work I won't ask if you have flash installed. Could be one of your addon. Flashblock or adblock for example.

I like what I see from Ross in that video, but I'm going to curb my enthusiasm until he does this consistently in live drills in fall camp.

Ross is a freaking monster. He had very little film on him from juco and UK kept him under wraps. If this man wanted he could have gone anywhere. He had big time schools begging him to open up and visit.

We have easily the best and deepest wr core in school history. Same can be said for TE.

Plus they're practicing daily against the best secondary we've ever had.

If the qb, ol, and coaching staff show up; we could really surprised people.
Keenan, Stevie, Tamme and Dickie...by far are the best unit we've ever had. This group has tons to show before they pass those guys up.

I've followed him on Twitter for a while. He's always been in love with UK like he grew up in Kentucky.

Did this video really warrant a 'wow' response? It's almost humiliating to the fanbase that some fans see this and think wow they get up for stuff like this? Nothing wow about this video except the fact someone said wow in response to this video.

While I appreciate your enthusiasm, you probably need to tone down the hyperbole just a bit. One thing for certain is you are not a member of the Lexington press corps.

Our WR group has the POTENTIAL to be the best in school history. We have depth, speed and size galore.

Good group, but the WR corps of Burton, Johnson, Lyons and Tamme was as good as many schools have ever had. This current group has the potential to compete with that group.

Only for those that appreciate college football and the difficulty of press coverage in the SEC. Others probably won't get it.

Looked to be messing with Edwards, good to see our guys out there working and coming together as a group. I'm pretty sure that did nothing but fire Mike up for lots of serious competition this summer.
Say what ya want but Stoops & Co. have assembled some very talented athletes on this team. With the right attitude and some fight they should win some games this year.

I think that Lamar Thomas mentioned Ross in an interview a few weeks back as well!

This program NEEDS some difference makers!!

We've been building a foundation of solid players but we haven't been getting the "special" players.

I think that Westry and maybe Boom may be the only truly "dynamic" players we've gotten.

Hopefully this season a few players step up and distinguish themselves as big time players!!

I had totally forgotten about this kid until now. Physically he looks like an NFL WR right now. I cannot wait to see what he and these other seasoned WR's are able to do now with an OC that will know how to use them. We could be looking at a potentially VERY explosive offense with the WRs and RBs we've got. Strong offense gives us a shot at some upsets. Can.not.wait!

Had to click "Show Ignored Content" to see who you were referring to. My suspicions were confirmed.
Yeah... I saw a post early this week from androuglyducklysigns and had a WTF moment myself... Had to login again and I'm at peace once more...

Ross is indeed a BIG WR but I don't think the UK secondary coaches will be the least bit happy with the DB's technique.

The DB looks like he is in the correct initial position except he does not have his hands up in a good "strike" position. If you are going to press cover (i.e., what we used to call bump and run) you need to either (1) force a lateral release step by the receiver then mirror that step to maintain a straight head to head position and/or (2) if the receiver comes straight ahead (as in the video clip) the DB must step into and strike the receiver to disrupt the release. In this film the DB initiates no contact but goes into a straight back pedal and is easily pushed to the ground by the receiver who actually delivers the strike. As we used to say he caught the blow rather than delivered it. That said, Ross' size will make it difficult for all but the larger DBs to play this technique against him. Another point is that since this is a somewhat dangerous coverage technique it is best used in conjunction with quick pressure on the QB.

FWIW, the hubbub in the background makes me think this was not a real "practice drill" as much as it was just messing around.

Peace

Good group, but the WR corps of Burton, Johnson, Lyons and Tamme was as good as many schools have ever had. This current group has the potential to compete with that group.

I have to agree with both evaluations.

But the amazing thing about that group is Burton was wanted by UL as a DB (played QB in high school), not offered by them and a very late 5.5 three star, Johnson a two star JC, and Lyons (no other major offers IIRC) not just a two star but a FOUR POINT NINE two star. Then our TE, Tamme, was a converted WR that also was a very late 5.5 three star AND he had his offer rescinded by Morris,

All great receivers, still remember Lyons one TD catch that was ruled incomplete at first, and he could have had an NFL career also with a few breaks. but who remembers any of the backup receivers (or TEs) we had. If any one of the outstanding receivers falls off at all this year he will be on the bench, great depth now.

Must have been some great coach to get these four commits to achieve such heights from humble beginnings, someone like-------wait a minute, that was Joker?

Ross and Baker on the outside is going to scare the hell out of dcoordinators.

Not to mention the DBs, if I was a DB facing one of these guys I might have to fall down with a leg cramp, LOL.

Anyone remember a few years ago when two of our best starting DBs were both about 5' 11" and considerably less than 180#?

Brooks and his staff were amazing at finding diamonds in the rough AND developing those guys. Stoops has shown eye for talent; now we just need to see these guys developing into legit targets and finishers!

Ross is a legit 6"5 from his video he looks like he's pretty darn fast as well. He's a bigger version of a guy cincy had in mckale mckay. I look for Ross to get his feet wet this year learning the system and to possibly start his Jr year.

All DBs have weaknesses and types of receivers that give them trouble. Westry will match up very well with the tall WR like Ross is, but the smaller quick guys, like Boom who are WR, Calvin Ridley who come out of their cuts super quick give him more problems. All DBs can do is make that window as small and tight as they can and hope the qb can't throw it in there.
