he will be collecting lots of coin from ND. I am not worried about ND. Im worried about our mid-tier guys who will step into roles next year cause there aint nobody else. Maybe Gilber sniffed wind that Nykoles Harvobour is heading our way- who the heck knows what is going on?
If a kid can make $2m per year for 4 years on a college campus with no room and board expenses, he will likely pocket more money over that time than the majority of NFL draftees will pocket over the course of their NFL careers This. Is. Not. Sustainable.
Dang..been busy today….missed o gilby was leaving. What the hell could be his beef. He started all year, did a nice job with his talent level of not overly big or fast, yet now he’s leaving? WTH is wrong with these people.
I think the $2MM NIL deal here was a one timer, rather than paid per year. But yeah, even $2MM total is a boat load of cash to throw at a college kid.
Don't know that. Maybe Feeman is coming back with $4 million. Nobody can be sure of anything anymore.
2 Million is a lot of money and he can be never drafted or even drafted to make that kind of money. I would take it and get a degree from OK or Oregon and call it a day. Invest 1 M ( assuming 50% is taxed) it will be a lot when he retires without ever playing in NFL.
Who verifies these numbers? That is my question. How do we not know these numbers are recruiting tactics.
as time goes on we have seen these figures are totally false in most instances. None of these NIL collectives can guarantee you anything. They make promises but they are not legal contracts. I think also some schools like to leak this stuff to make themselves look good even though they are not supposed to be involved. It’s sort of a look how much money we have for other recruits to see.
Nothing will ever be verified or proven to be false. It's not supposed to be happening. These numbers are in keeping with what we've heard for top-ranked recruits.
That's a good point and we don't know. But they wouldn't yield much fruit in recruiting if what was promised wasn't delivered - of hadn't been delivered and that fact was discovered. That would be counterproductive.
It's a lot of money to throw at anybody, including my 48 year old self. Lol. But at least I have enough life experience to know when I'm being fed a line of bull - or at least be skeptical of what sounds too good to be true. I think the predatory aspects of all this are what worry me the most. 18 year olds, often with very little competent guidance at home, being lured here and there by promises that eventually don't hold up.
I know….wasn’t directing this at you…..I know someone personally who does this NIL stuff and reps some of the highest profile players now. The money is not guaranteed…..so people can throw out any figure they want. Plus, the player has to perform and follow through on their end and many are shucking that responsibily. I’m guessing they think they are owed it for not working. They then can leave for the next gig and have no cares.
Try the SCOTUS.....the NCAA has guidelines, SCOTUS placed none in their stupid decision.
Believe that if you want to. Notre Dame is going to take care of him. 2mil is chump change for that program.
