If they want the sport cleaned up, the refs should be told to call it tight the entire year until the Bruce Pearl, Buzz Williams types realize you can’t manipulate the game by desensitizing the concept of what a violation is. It’s way out of control. Would the games be hard to watch for awhile? Yes, but it’s the only way to really clean it up
And Jay Williams said that he thought the SEC might suffer in the ncaat because they are used to fouling without it being called. And they won’t get the same whistle in the ncaat.
Probably truth to it. Pearl only been to one final four. Barnes hasn’t been to one at Tennessee yet.
He's rarely right, but he's right here. That's happened with A&M every year under Buzz and it's happened to Auburn a few times. I wouldn't be shocked if the SEC really underperforms in the tournament relative to expectations.

It would hurt for awhile, but start challenging the Refs, without being T’d up. Maybe give coaches two or three official reviews. Some of this stuff really changes the game and seems corrupt at times.
Agree with you. I really don't think there's any cure for it. Basketball is a mess.
Which allows the most physical team at times dictate pace. Which is why every game some SEC official should be rewatching the game and taking notes and grading each official and they should sit down with them and go over that grade.

Right but you get the idea. Meant to shorten the monitor times. Also puts some onus on the coaches to be accurate instead of crying about every call too. Some of the officiating issues are from coaches working the refs more than should be permissible. That will alleviate it as well. I think it would be a huge benefit to the game. I’m surprised someone like @Cold Stout Beer would be opposed if the game has been so poorly officiated on a regular basis.
I’ve said this same thing, but instead of grading, they would be FINED. Just not sure anyone would actually have the time.

I do believe the Refs need a refresher course in basketball officiating.
Where is it coming from? Are they being TOLD to do this? Are they trying to mimic the NBA?
Grade them, fine them or dock their pay if they don't do a good job. I read these guys get paid between $1,000 and $3,000 a game, that is some damn good money if true.
