With a Topic headline such as this, there better be yoga pants or someone's hottie in a bikini where we have to guess her age. Anything less is a disservice to the Topic Thread.

Bottom line, we have the worst turnover margin of the 65 Power 5 Conference teams over the past 15 seasons (2004-2018), and yet we have won 60 percent of our games. We have either outperformed our lousy turnover margin, or we've underperformed based on the talent we have because of turnovers.

We've recovered only 34 percent of our opponents' fumbles in that time, which is a full four percentage points lower than the next worst team, Vanderbilt, who sucks. The average is 50 percent or so.

The turnover margin is worth about four points per turnover in a game.

For example, we lost to Colorado last year by five points, but we were minus-3 in turnovers, which means we gave them 12 points.

Against Iowa, we were minus-1 and lost by 3 points.

Theoretically, we break even in those games, we'd have had a .500 season, maybe better because we lost by 5 to Troy and finished minus-1 in TOs.

TLDR:
Break even in TOs this year, and we should win a bunch of games if we have better talent than the other team.

I go with underperform based on the talent. While the recruiting rankings have not been stellar in most of the years, there was enough to do better than we did.
