WVU Hosts Loyola in Exhibition on Sunday
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (August 21, 2015) – The West Virginia University men’s soccer team hosts Loyola (Md.) on Sunday, Aug. 23 at 5 p.m. in the team’s final exhibition contest of the 2015 preseason.
The match will be played at the Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium, and admission is free for all fans.
“We’ve had a good preseason so far,” coach Marlon LeBlanc said. “I’m very pleased with my guys top-to-bottom, they’ve all worked extremely hard and have come every day giving what we’ve asked of them and even more. These games are an opportunity for them to showcase how hard they’ve been working and hopefully give us another picture as to where we’re at heading into the start of the season.”
Sunday’s exhibition finale will give both players and fans an opportunity to experience a WVU gameday at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium before the season-opener on Friday, Aug. 28 at 7 p.m. against Navy.
“It’s special when guys get to play at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium,” LeBlanc said. “This will be the first time out there for quite a few of them against another team. The fact that we get a dress rehearsal against a good Loyola opponent is going to help those guys get acclimated to the stadium, our fans and the size of the field, along with competing at a pretty high level too.”
The Mountaineers return 20 letterwinners, including nine starters, from last year’s squad that went 11-7-1. WVU closed the 2014 campaign on a 7-2 run in LeBlanc’s ninth season at the helm.
Tickets for all 10 regular-season home matches are now on sale. New in 2015 is the WVU Soccer Scarf ticket package, where fans can purchase 10 tickets for any men’s or women’s soccer match for $30 and receive a newly designed WVU soccer scarf. More information on the scarf ticket package can be found here, while fans can purchase tickets online in advance for any home match by visiting WVUGAME.com.
