K-State Pair, TCU's Morrison & WVU's Huth Collect Weekly Honors

Irving, Texas - Max Brown (Kansas State) and Preston Morrison (TCU), along with Tyler Wolfe (Kansas State) and KC Huth (West Virginia) have been tabbed Big 12 baseball weekly award winners for games played April 6-13.

Brown collects his first career Player of the Week award. Morrison earns his second Pitcher of the Week honor on the season and fourth of his career after also earning the accolade twice in 2014. Morrison is one of 10 pitchers in conference history to win the award four or more times in their career.

Wolfe and Huth share the Newcomer of the Week distinction.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Max Brown, Kansas State, Sr., OF, North Bend, Wash./Bellevue CC
Brown hit a team-best .429 (9-for-21) with two doubles, two triples and six RBI in five games last week, helping K-State to a midweek victory at Omaha and a series win against No. 3 TCU. Tied for the Big 12 lead in hits for the week, the senior hit safely in all five games, including three-straight multi-hit efforts. After matching his season-high in hits by going 3-for-5 with two doubles at Omaha on Wednesday, Brown tallied a career-high four RBI, while going 2-for-4, in K-State's 14-4 series-opening win over TCU. He also added two RBI with a two-out triple in the series-clinching victory on Sunday. Over the entire TCU series, Brown had a team-best six RBI and hit .417 against a pitching staff that entered the weekend with a 1.73 ERA and .207 batting average against in Big 12-only games.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Preston Morrison, TCU, Sr., RHP, Waxhaw, N.C./Cuthbertson
Morrison (7-1) tossed his second complete-game shutout of the season to help the Horned Frogs even the series at Kansas State last Saturday. He needed just 115 pitches to make it through the game as Kansas State had just six base runners, three of which came in the ninth inning, and had only two in scoring position. Morrison retired the side in five of the nine innings and allowed just four hits and two walks while striking out six in the victory. It marked his ninth career complete game and sixth career complete-game shutout. With the performance, Morrison improved to 32-10 in his career.

NEWCOMERS OF THE WEEK
Tyler Wolfe, Kansas State, Jr., SS, Maple Plain, Minn./Des Moines Area CC
Wolfe batted .333 (7-for-21) with five runs scored and seven RBI in five games last week, helping K-State to a midweek victory at Omaha and a series win vs. No. 3 TCU. The Des Moines Area Community College transfer turned in a pair of three-RBI games, first at Omaha and then in the Wildcats' series-clinching 6-2 win vs. TCU on Sunday. In the series opener against the Horned Frogs, the junior went 4-for-5 with an RBI and three runs scored to help lead K-State to a 14-4 triumph. In the TCU series, Wolfe was 5-for-13 (.385) with four RBI and four runs scored, helping him lead the conference in RBI (7) and tie for sixth in runs scored (5) for the week. In Big 12-only games, Wolfe is fourth in the conference with a .389 batting average and tied for first in runs scored with 11.

KC Huth, West Virginia, Jr., CF, La Verne, Calif./Fullerton College
In four game for the Mountaineers last week, Huth went 9-for-15 for a .600 batting average with four runs, two doubles, one home run, six RBI, four walks and one stolen base. He finished with a .933 slugging percentage and a .684 on-base percentage. During the weekend series against Butler, the outfielder went 9-for-13 (.692) with four hits on Friday, two hits on Saturday and three hits on Sunday. Among his three hits on Sunday were two doubles and a three-run home run. All six of his weekend RBI came with two outs.
