That kid was only here because he’s local. But I wish it could have worked out for him. We have to be careful with this in the future. We cannot just offer a scholly to a local kids just because. It just wasn’t good for anyone involved.

I thought he was pretty highly ranked? Maybe that came after we offered him though.

I think he proved in the handful of games where he got extended minutes he was talented enough to play here, it just turned out he didn’t have the work ethic.

Yeah Cal should have been more careful. He always gave out too many scholarships ;- )

I’m fine with a local fringe player getting scholarship as long as we have more than 8-9 players on the team.

I got you. I agree with you on Cal's use of schollys. These local kids are different. Once they are here, there will be fan pressure to play them. The juice better be worth the squeeze or it will be a lot of headache for everyone. A la Dante

How about giving Allen a little money and making a one day trade with Wyoming. Cats get Allen for one game against Mississippi state. They get Walker Horn for one game.

He was really highly ranked.

He got hurt as a junior or senior. Then had a setback with a car accident. Was never really what we hoped for.

He's currently in his 5th year of CBB shooting 31%. Had a couple good shooting seasons at WKU.

Agree 110%.

The good news is that it appears Ky is now producing some better HS players.

Noah and Perry can both be good role players and maybe key players if they stick around long enough. Pope’s system doesn’t require the high flying athlete that Cal wanted.

Auburn was all in for him .. or am I dreaming ? I said for years Cal so badly abused this young man it ruined him. Yes I guess he could have been mentally stronger ( ??) but if you watch sports at all you have to agree a coach can damage or ruin a kid . You have no confidence because you know the coach doesnt have your back . You play so much worse , in every sport . This has all been beat to death 100 times on here . You either dislike the kid or like the kid , there isnt much in the middle . I loved him .

Allen played well at times for UK I think he proved he could shoot the ball with anyone.

He only did well against msu.

He was atrocious in season 2 when injuries forced UK to play hum more n the ooc.
I think it also had to do with him being on a better team in season 2. He had players ahead of him that were much better.

He and Cal were a poor fit. He would be a better fit under Pope and would probably be more engaged in a system that suited him more

I feel Cal ruined his confidence and he was never the same player as before.

I still feel he performs generally well in his redshirt fr year, he could be a solid contributor if he is well developed.

He could be a weapon under the coach of pope. Yes, he and coach cal are poor fit

Kentucky does seem to be producing some better players lately.
Years ago the state produced some incredible players. Great athletes. Would like to see that return. 70s and 80s there were many college stars from Kentucky.
