So, I got through the first two commercial breaks, but then I was done. Seems terrible to me. Was it just me?

As an X Files nerd, I was happy with it as a reintroduction. There's only five episodes to pick up the pace. I hope it picks up.

watched it just out of a sense of duty, not sure it was really enjoyable. Kind of like the pointless 2008 movie that didnt even have anything to do with aliens or the entire series ongoing storyline of aliens/government taking over the planet. have no idea what the point of this little 6 series run is going to be, to see if there is an audience to crank back up full time? Or milk more money out of movies?

big thumbs up for them using the original series opening tho....with the addition of Skinner. This show was so good the first 6 years, each episode was so well acted and filmed it was like a weekly 1 hour movie. I look back on enjoying it the first time with much fondness. and kind of worried this showing will ruin that.

I agree about the reintroduction, there is only so much you can fit into a one hour show less commercials to fast forward to today. I think where it left off, it will definitely speed up.

I was a huge fan during the first couple years. Didn't see those last few seasons, so I'm a little lost. I'm guessing the marriage and child happened during the gap?

I definitely enjoyed last night's episode, but I had to laugh a little--- I had forgotten that Duchovny was from the Keanu Reeves School of Acting. Regardless, I'm on board for a 6-episode commitment.

I saw him laugh one time on Californication. Dudes got range.

Californication was a great show the first 2 or 3 years. Or maybe I just liked all of the skin. Also liked X Files the 1st 4 seasons. But stopped watching halfway thru season 5.

Didn't watch this new show because the movie sucked and I figured this would too. Probably just a money grab situation and a precursor to an even crappier movie in the sequel...which I also will not watch. Hope it picks up and gets better for those of you vested.

Best role Duchovny ever had was as "Goatman" in that one movie about the kid who goes off to college and has the hippy mom. He laughs AND cries in that one.

Just a rehash of stuff that was done already by the original series when the stars were younger & more attractive

there are no aliens, just a conspiracy by powerful bad guys in the government? they did that storyline already, the cliffhanger of season 4, with Mulder almost committing suicide after discovering the 'truth'.
Cancer Man getting dramatic message that The X Files have been reopened? did that at the conclusion of the 1998 film.
Thinking some abductee victim is the key to solving all the mysteries only to lose her at the last second? did that about a dozen times at least.

Had my dvr set and had an extra hour because of the game, still cut off half way through. I liked the old x files better when they weren't so UFO centered. I liked it better when it was just the weird stories.

Episode 2 was a lot better.

Episode 1 had too much exposition and while I love him on talk soup and community , Mchale was awful and brought the whole episode 1 down because he was talking about conspiracies like he was on community making fun of them when his character was supposed to be a full believer.

By the way aliens are confirmed real in the first episode because it showed the alien getting. Shot in 1947. But what the the new story leads us to believe is that we stole their technology and those people are as horrible as Hitler. Maybe aliens will come and protect them at the end and save the day instead of invading which the original series had us thinking. It would be a kinda cool twist

Whatever happened to Mulder's little sister? Was that ever reesolved?
yeah, somewhat, or as resolved as things get on that show. in season 7 it was discovered that she basically turned into a spirit or some such nonsense to get away from the abuse she was suffering as part of the whole abductee/experimentation program.

Ep 2 was better. a typical medical science evil badguy kind of episode. but the scenes showing Mulder & Scully imagining life raising their son were excellent & heart tugging.

I never watched the original although I liked the idea of the show. I was younger at that time and didn't watch a lot of tv but I watched the first two episodes and thought it was great.

They're doing something different than the normal alien storyline most shows do. Hoping it gets renewed.

I just got into watching the originals on Netflix. Most of the way through the 2nd season so far. Definitely weird jumping from there to these new episodes. For the person who missed the first episode, you can download the Fox app and watch it. I to missed most of it because of the football game. I have mixed feelings about the new season, but will give it a chance.

I was a big fan of the original series (not so much after Robert Patrick and Annabeth Gish took over), and I enjoyed the first two episodes of the new show. I'm not sure what people are bitching about because it absolutely felt like the old shows to me. The chemistry between Duchovny and Anderson is still there and Chris Carter still has a solid grasp of what motivates each character. I'm definitely looking forward the last 4 episodes and if they end up being pretty good, I hope they extend Mulder and Scully's stay in our homes for a further few seasons, especially if they can stick to the old monster-of-the-week formula that made the original run of the series so popular.

IMO seasons 3, 4 & 5 were just wonderful television. was kind of uneven starting up, and wasnt ever the same after the movie.

I want a new pair of agents... hopefully fresh from training. Using Scully for medical information and examining. And Mulder as the new information broker and guide. And if they don't find their son by the last episode here...... it would be cool if it ended up being one of those agents and to account for him being 8 years older than he should be... alien DNA aged him faster to adult hood and he manipulated his way into FBI training to figure out how and who he really is. of course it would take a few seasons to figure this out because he keeps his secrets fearing what would happen if someone found out.

I'm guessing last night was right up your alley?

I enjoyed it. It was fun. The exchanges between Mulder and Scully had the feel of the old Carol Burnett shows-- where Tim Conway was goofy and Harvey Korman tried to hold in his laughs.

They definitely went with that format, last night! [winking]

fun episode last night, definitely. tongue in cheek laugh take at the old monster of the week staple. shew wee, Scully in the monster guy's porn fantasy...in the first episode I was thinking sadly she was showing her age. she flat brought it for that scene.
