The guys was a great athlete.... He was tough under the boards... He blocked shots.... He went out on the break as good as anyone on the team... Every now and then he would show off his super athleticism and fly over someone for a dunk... He's a leader and upper class man... He was good with the younger kids..... We miss him more than you think.....

I've actually seen a lot of threads and posts about this. There's been one after both of the overtime games. Yes, we definitely miss him and I wish he didn't get hurt more than anything... but the fact remains he's out, he's not coming back this season, and it hurts even more when we wistfully think "what if" and can't do anything about it.

So yeah.

He's not playing, and losing him likely will not keep us from reaching our ultimate goal, so I don't really know why we would talk about him much.

What do you really expect us to have to say about him that hasn't already been said many times, including in this thread? He had surgery and now has recovery and rehab time ahead of him for many months, not much else we can really talk about regarding him and the team needs to move on without him the rest of this season.

I read about him all the time. Also, every game I miss him being out there.

Lots of talk and threads about Alex. I am fully aware that we miss him. Opinions vary as to how much, but we sure could use his energy and defense right now. His sporadic explosions were key to getting us going at times. We can still win number 9, but KAT and Lyles need to develop a little quicker and Willie has to be more consistent. Alex might have played as the 3 but he was effectively a 4 in many court situations.

Do I think POY missing will hinder us from winning the national
championship? No! I still think we'll win it and maybe go undefeated...
Just saying, we can't look as good without POY..... In other words, I didn't give him the accolades that he deserved, and I made this post to rectify that.....

His energy on defense and his tendency to make great offensive plays are missed right now... A lot of fans and media are wondering, what is wrong with UK? Well, POY is one big reason why were not as lethal as we were......... It makes no difference IMO, because were still the best in the nation.... JMO

Discussing Poy and his contribution may provide answers why we have struggled 2 out of the past 3 games, maybe not. But why would anyone chose to ostracize him because he is no longer playing? That would be like not talking about Wall or AD or any player we are recruiting. This is a message board for all of those discussions. Poy is a part of this team, played a major role in creating an image of a superpower (that may now be history), and will likely be part of the Wildcats next year. I couldn't think of a better topic of discussion. Good post Gary4UK

I don't know about that. I think plenty of us have been saying losing Alex did hurt the team. He is a tremendous athlete. I've had in it in the back of my mind that if the NBA doesn't work out for him the NFL might. There are some guys in the league who didn't play college football. Not many, but a few. Perhaps a tight-end. Just musing out loud.
